Elmhurst Memorial Hospital company history timeline
Founded in 1926, Elmhurst Memorial Hospital (now Elmhurst Hospital) is a comprehensive health system with multiple locations and services designed to enhance the health of the communities and customers served.
The facility, now re-named NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst and erected at a cost of $25.2 million by the Department of Public Works, opened in 1957.
1964 – NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst became affiliated with Mt.
1982 – NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst designated as a Level 1 Trauma Center
1985 – AIDS Treatment Program established
2000 – First hospital in NYC to use PACS System, eliminating hard-copy x-rays
2003 – First NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst facility to conduct laparoscopic surgery with daVinci surgical robot
2008 – NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst opens The Hope Pavilion, a state-of-the-art cancer treatment facility
In 2011, Elmhurst Hospital opened a new, 866,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art acute care hospital on 50-acre campus that also includes facilities for specialty services, individual physician offices and a retail complex.
The system was created by the merger of Edward Hospital and Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare in 2013.
