Responsibilities
Performs testing in the clinical laboratory for use in the treatment and diagnosis of disease using standard techniques and equipment;Performs related duties in laboratory to include storing and labeling specimens and using manual and automatic equipment to prepare specimens and perform analytical tests.Performs testing accurately, safely and within established time periods for routine, urgent and stat testing.Calibrates and performs routine maintenance on laboratory equipment and instrumentation according to laboratory protocols.Maintains laboratory supply inventory.Performs various Quality Control and Quality Assurance procedures to maintain compliance with internal and external regulations and protocols. Successfully completes and maintains all requirements for MLS level II as outlined in the Professional Laboratory Advancement Program.Successfully completes and maintains all requirements for MLS level III as outlined in the Professional Laboratory Advancement Program.Able to work in a fast-paced, high volume environment. Performs testing in the following sections of the clinical laboratory: Blood Bank, Hematology, Chemistry, and Microbiology, including specimen processing. Manual and automated equipment will be used to perform analytical tests including but not limited to: Manual WBC and body fluid differentials, manual body fluid cell counts, specimen dilutions, gram stains, molecular assays, and antibody identification and titers. Notifies appropriate staff members of any calibration or equipment failures which cannot be immediately resolved. Maintain laboratory supply inventory, notifying appropriate laboratory staff when supplies are below established par levels. Reports any values outside of acceptable ranges that cannot be resolved to the appropriate laboratory staff member. Compensation and Benefits
The compensation range for this position is $30.62per hour - $52.67per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. In this role, you will:
The Molecular Technologist is responsible for performing moderate and high complexity clinical sample testing within the Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory. * Performs specimen processing, and clerical functions in one or more sections of the laboratory.

* Communicates effectively with others, respects diverse opinions and styles, and acknowledges the assistance and contributions of others. Manages work schedule efficiently, completing tasks and assignments on time.
* Assists with stocking department supplies and putting supplies away.
* Performs transport, receipt and loading of specimens.
* Assists with packaging of specimens to reference labs.
* Assists with order QA cross-checking.
* Reviews/Records refrigerator temperature(s) and QC/QA records. Areas of concern are recorded through the Corrective Action Log and reported to maintenance for repair. Findings are reported to supervisor or manager.
* Answers the main lab phone and transfers calls appropriately to the lab departments.
* Performs daily disinfection of surfaces.
* Follows lab procedures carefully. Follows up with all outstanding orders on Order Monitor, and communicates all timed, completed or uncompleted draws/charges, tasks, missing phones through shift reporting to the next shift prior to clocking out and performs other duties as assigned.

Duties:

Once a Clinical Laboratory Technologist II has sufficient experience (generally six years) to qualify under the New York provision listed in Subpart 58 as a Supervisor he/she may, after appropriate training and demonstration of competency, be assigned as a supervisor for situations where the Supervisor/Assistant Supervisor is not on-site, but readily available by telephone or electronic paging device.
As outlined in the New York State Department of Health standards testing personnel must:
follow the laboratory's pre-analytic and analytic procedures and maintaining records of tests; maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens; adhere to the laboratory's quality assurance procedures, including documenting all:
quality control activities
instrument and equipment verifications;
maintenance and preventive maintenance; and
follow the laboratory's policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established performance specifications; identify and document problems that may adversely affect test performance and notify the supervisor, assistant director(s) or director; and document all corrective actions taken when tests systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.

MT/MLS candidates
Required: Baccalaureate degree in chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution; completed and approved ASCP (or equivalent) certification pathway; or have satisfied CLIA requirements for HEW certification. Have completed one year in an accredited laboratory training program.
Certification Qualifications:
MLT Candidates
