JOB SUMMARY: Drivers will use Emerald Youth Foundation vehicles primarily for afterschool pick-ups, summer day camp transportation, and/or transportation to and from sporting events as part of Emerald Youth's different youth ministries. Each year, students in our afterschool programs take the MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) Assessment to determine their academic strengths and needs. This past school year, many of our students who were paired with tutors achieved greater academic growth, which is why we need you! While with their tutor, students would be able to work on specific reading and math skills with resources and content catered to their individual levels. If hired, where would I work? Tutors would be placed at one of EYs JustLead program sites. EYs JustLead ministry is implemented through a network of more than 18 churches and faith-based organizations (FBOs) to raise up a large number of urban youth to love Jesus Christ and become effective leaders who help renew their communities. Structured and meaningful activities (i.e. academics, health, service-learning, discipleship, etc.) take place with young people at a church and FBO to achieve this holistic vision. What will I do? Tutors will work with students on reading and math goals, based on student needs and grade level. Tutoring in the elementary level will have a focus on reading. Tutoring at the middle school level will have a focus on math. Tutors will receive curriculum and resources to support their students, and training will be provided on how to utilize the curriculum. Tutoring resources and curriculum will be provided to tutors. What are the hours? Tutors will work 8-10 hours per week during our afterschool program hours of 3:00 - 6:00. Tutors should be able to work at least 3 or 4 days each week for 2-3 hours per day. Exact days and schedule per week will be determined based on candidate availability. Our referees orchestrate the game for our participants, providing them with an opportunity to play the game they love! If hired, where would I work? Typically, all games take place at the Haslam-Sansom Ministry Complex in Lonsdale. The address is 1740 Texas Ave., 37921. What will I do? You will be responsible for starting games with a coin toss and you will time each team's warm up. You will meet with line judges to review signals prior to the start of the match. You will check team line ups, orchestrate the game in a fair manner, and sign the scoresheet at the end of each match to approve and ensure correctness before turning it in to the Director. You will monitor to ensure safe play throughout the match. You will assist in the tear down of net systems if you ref the last game of the evening. What is the schedule? Thank you for your interest in serving with us again! We're pleased to announce that Emerald Youth was approved to receive AmeriCorps funding for the 2025/2026 year. Essentially, this means we will pick back up where we left off with AmeriCorps in April. IMPORTANT: With that said, it is important to note that while AmeriCorps funding has been approved, it has not yet been awarded. Even if there is a delay in receiving this funding award, Emerald Youth will start everyone on time August 4th but as an employee rather than an AmeriCorps member. If started as an employee, you would receive an hourly rate of $15 until the formal AmeriCorps award comes through at which point you would be classified as an AmeriCorps member and pay will go from an hourly wage to a living allowance pay structure (same as before and much like a salary, i.e., the amount deposited each pay day would be the same regardless of fluctuating hours). Job DescriptionSalary: Since 1991, Emerald Youth Foundation has worked to support Knoxvilles youth and prepare generations of Godly community leaders. Emerald Youth has engaged more than 30,000 children and young adults in a variety of community programs over nearly three decades. Every year, Emerald Youth serves more than 3,000 children, teens and young adults in the heart of Knoxville through faith, learning and health programs. JOB SUMMARY: The Calling & Career Ministry Coordinator executes the day-to-day operations of the learning center open to 8th through 12th graders to support their transition from high school to post-secondary education and training. This role will help facilitate academic support and enrichment opportunities, calling and career identification and planning, and post-secondary training selection so that students can identify their God-given calling and select the best path to pursue that calling. Cultivate an inviting learning environment that attracts and keeps students engaged. Guide and enroll students into the grade-level appropriate workshops and classes. Secure and match students with tutors as needed. Help plan and implement college visits. Obtain and maintain certification to implement Calling and Career assessments and discuss results with student and family. Help counsel students to determine the best post-secondary path that aligns with their calling, interests, and abilities. Liaison with college/university faculty to recruit and coordinate workshop leaders and student volunteers. Communicate with workshop leaders to help prepare them for their presentations. Know students and their families to help maintain participation levels in programs. Work with the Calling and Career Ministry Director and Program Development team to ensure highest quality offerings are made available to students. Assist with the planning, scheduling, and confirmation of center offerings. Help identify needed curriculum and to ensure compliance with Emerald Youth outcomes. Operate technology and prepare and implement learning materials as needed for the program. Ensure snacks are purchased, prepped and provided to students during programs. Ensure facility is clean, organized, and well maintained. Be responsible for opening and closing building. Identify constraints or leakage related to the Calling and Career Center that could keep youth from being comprehensively engaged or meeting academic outcomes. Seek solutions working collaboratively with supervisor to attempt and resolve issues so students can move forward in programs. Recruit, train, and supervise additional volunteers to adequately staff Ministry Center. Oversee crisis situations and communicate with student and/or family as needed, proving support and guidance. Coordinate with supervisor in case of such an event. Track, review and provide needed data and/or report achieved outcomes and measurements related to the Calling and Career Ministry Center. Oversee safety at site, ensuring all team members comply with organizational safety standards, including but not limited to behavior and discipline, child ratios, transportation, CPR, and first aid as applies. Maintain program budget. Maintain a current CDL and drive large vehicles/buses as needed or help coordinate transportation as needed Deliver effective and timely communication and ensure staff does the same. Manage additional projects and tasks as assigned and participate with any assigned groups or committees. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Dedicated Christian with clear knowledge of the Gospel and a passion for the mission of Emerald Youth Foundation; connected to a church community; possesses a strong reputation for honesty, integrity, and high moral standards. Education, counseling or related bachelors degree. Ideally 3-5 years experience in counseling or youth programs coordination. Must hold or obtain a CDL and drive large vehicles/buses. Must obtain certification in designated Calling & Career assessment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office software. Able to supervise and motivate team. Attention to detail. Willingness to work extended hours. Paid Vacation Leave Paid Sick Leave Paid Holidays PROGRAM SUMMARY: JustLead is a youth leadership program of EY implemented through a coalition of neighborhood churches and faith-based organizations serving urban youth. The after-school component for elementary, middle, and high school students includes Bible study, tutoring, homework help, health/fitness/nutrition instruction, field trips, service learning opportunities, and job and college readiness activities. JOB SUMMARY: This position will coordinate and implement all aspects of the church-based, JustLead Ministry for middle school and high school age youth. The JustLead Youth Ministry Coordinator will be responsible for the recruitment of youth and families to participate in the JustLead programs as well as volunteers to help support the ministry initiatives and for achieving assigned program goals. This role will partner with the church or faith-based organization (FBO) for both the youth and family ministry. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: Actively identify, recruit, engage, and support neighborhood youth and families to participate in the ministry. Coordinate and implement, for an assigned age group, afterschool/summer day camps, Wednesday night/Sunday morning and other discipleship initiatives, and relationship-building activities under the direction of the JustLead Ministry Director. Ensure assigned program goals are being met including participation, comprehensive engagement, and youth development outcomes. Participate in weekday and weekend camps, special events, field trips, home visits, and other student event activities. Be engaged with the participants' schools and know other activities and organizations with which a participant may be involved. These events may require some evening work as needed. Help connect participants in “transition grades” to the next age-level staff and programming and connect students to calling & career center as needed. Notify Director and respond to families as requested, should an emergency situation arise. Funnel families into family engagement activities. Must become fully immersed in all aspects of the church as a whole through attendance on Wednesday evening and Sunday morning worship services, special events, i.e., Christmas plays, church celebrations, etc. Serving actively in the church as a staff team in ways that connect youth to the church through programs and events. Collect fees and maintain program budgets. Review and provide needed data and/or report achieved outcomes and measurements for assigned church/FBO. Recruit, manage, develop, and nurture a team of volunteers, AmeriCorps members, and/or youth workers. Follow all organizational safety standards, including but not limited to behavior and discipline, child ratios, transportation, CPR, and first aid. Ensure AmeriCorps members and volunteers follow all organizational standards as well. Maintain a current CDL and drive large vehicles/buses. Manage additional projects and tasks as assigned, participate with any assigned groups or committees, and participate in area ministry network and organization events, including working outside normal schedule as needed. . QUALIFICATIONS: Dedicated Christian with clear knowledge of the Gospel and a passion for the mission of Emerald Youth Foundation; connected to a church community; possesses a strong reputation for honesty, integrity, and high moral standards. At least 21 years of age with clear driving record and ability to obtain a CDL along with a willingness to drive vans or buses. Bi-lingual, Spanish Speaking a plus! 2-3 years of experience organizing and implementing youth programs. Ability to effectively communicate. Experience in an urban setting ideal. Ministry or related degree preferred. Excellent organizational skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Office. Supervisor/management experience desired.
