Under the general direction of the CARES Program Manager, you will respond to calls for service treating our most vulnerable populations that are suffering the impacts of drug and alcohol abuse. This position operates CARES transport vehicles, or ambulances, and works both independently and with other emergencymedical services personnel. After assessing the general condition of impaired, ill, or injured individuals, you will provide care and transportation to the most appropriate facility. When transported to the Sobering Center, monitoring and reassessing is an essential part of duties. The Community Paramedic is responsible for facilitating patient use of, and integration with, social and medical support services with a primary goal of decreasing 911 utilization for non-emergent purposes. The Community Paramedic is required to apply technical paramedic skills and acquire and apply knowledge of medical and social support structures for patient management. The Community Paramedic also performs paramedic duties through assignment to a city vehicle equipped with Advanced Life Support (ALS) equipment and may transport patients to destinations other than the Emergency Department and provide medical exams and treatment for patients in non-emergent situations. Responsibilities

We are currently seeking a dynamic individual to join our team and make a positive impact on the lives of our adult/geriatric ESRD patient population at our clinic in Wasilla, Alaska.
Key Responsibilities:
Cares for and monitors patients before, during, and post dialysis treatment.
Prepares dialysis machine and its components for treatment.
Transports patients, records patient's weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse rate and respiration rate.
Explains dialysis procedure and operation of hemodialysis machine to patient before treatment to allay anxieties.
Inspects and cleans area of access (fistula, graft, or catheter)
Inspects equipment settings, including pressures, conductivity (proportion of chemicals to water), and temperature to ensure conformance to safety standards.
Starts patient treatment according to physician order.
Monitors patient for adverse reaction and hemodialysis machine for malfunction.
Assists in inventory and supply stocking in the dialysis clinic.

Qualifications/Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent -
evidence of such is required pre-employment.
Minimum of 3 months of dialysis, phlebotomy, or CNA/PCA experience preferred.
CPR certification required within 90 days of hire.
Ability to distinguish primary colors -
as demonstrated by passing the Ishihara Color Vision Test.
Successful completion of our dialysis training program, including demonstrated competency, within 12 weeks of hire.
Must meet Center for Medicaid/Medicare Services (CMS)-approved national certification requirements within the CMS timeline. Certification must be maintained as current and in good standing.
Must be flexible to work most days/times (no set shifts).
Demonstrated working knowledge of the English language and ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
Must have basic computer skills; proficiency in all clinical applications is required within 90 days of hire.
Must be able to organize time and tasks well.
Required use of problem solving, analytical and effective communication skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
Must have interpersonal skills necessary to work with patients, staff, and all other individuals as required.
Ability to multi-task in an efficient, professional, and calm manner.
