The Behavioral Health Transport Program, staffed with an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and a Behavioral Health Counselor (BHC), utilizing non-ambulance vehicles, will offer an alternative model to safely and appropriately facilitate transport for behavioral health patients receiving care at Boston Children's Hospital and Franciscan Children's to other behavioral health facilities. Key Responsibilities: * Provides assistance in the transport and management of behavioral health patients between facilities, monitoring patients for physical and psychological safety. * Operates vehicle in accordance with Massachusetts driving laws. * Able to recognize signs of escalating behavior, agitation or psychiatric distress. * Collaborates with mental health professionals to follow individualized care plans when available and utilized de-escalating techniques when appropriate. * Demonstrates knowledge of operation of transport vehicle and equipment and ensures proper functioning prior to transport. * Demonstrates continued professional growth through continuing education while maintaining competency as an EMT through required training and/or education.
