ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under general supervision, performs various responsible fire service duties at an assigned fire station for the County's Fire and Rescue Department and performs skilled and technical work in rescuing victims and administering emergencymedical to patients on site. Work involves performing various duties, including preventing, controlling and extinguishing fires; maintaining and servicing fire equipment, station house, and grounds; and maintaining operational readiness of departmental vehicles and equipment. Employee is also responsible for operating a fire fighting vehicle in responding to fire alarms. Work also involves responding to the scene of emergency and non-emergency calls, applying necessary medical treatment to sick or injured persons, transporting persons to a medical facility. Employee serves as a member of an ambulance crew and is responsible for performing the duties of a Paramedic. This position is differentiated from an EmergencyMedicalTechnician of other certification levels by the additional requirements of performing defibrillation and cardioversion, using gas-powdered or hand-powered nebulizers, decompressing a tension pneumothorax by use of a catheter-flutter-valve device, using positive-end expiratory pressure respirators, performing cricothyrotomy for relief of upper airway obstruction, performing gastric suction by intubation, and performing urinary catheterization. Employee is subject to the usual hazards of firefighting duties and emergency rescue work, including risk of exposure to infectious diseases. Reports to a Fire Rescue Shift Officer.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
Responds to emergency calls as a mobile medical unit attendant or driver, performs necessary rescue work in accordance with established protocols for Basic and Advanced Life Support; administers necessary emergencymedical care requiring the use of suction units, immobilization equipment, intravenous infusions, syringes and medications, and cardiac monitors/defibrillator/pacers, and performance of intubation/advanced airway management.
EmergencyMedicalTechnicians - paramedics trained in approved training programs, certified by the Department of Health C Bureau of EmergencyMedical Services; to perform medical acts, and functioning in an improved mobile intensive care program may do any of the following in accordance with protocols established by their sponsor hospital:
(1) While at the scene of a medicalemergency and confronted by a serious or life-threatening clinical situation, if continual approval has been provided by the sponsoring Medical Director: (a) establish an intravenous or intraosseous line in a peripheral vein and administer any intravenous solution; (b) obtain blood for laboratory analysis; (c) administer parenterally, orally, sublingual, or topically any of the drugs approved by the County Medical Director; (d) perform pulmonary ventilation by means of an endotracheal tube and/or perform cricothyrotomy for relief of upper airway obstruction; (e) perform defibrillation or cardioversion; (f) use gas-powdered or hand-powdered nebulizers; (g) decompress a tension pneumothorax by use of a catheter-flutter-valve device; (h) use positive and expiratory pressure respirators; (i) perform gastric suction by intubation; and (j) perform external cardiac pacing.
(2) When confronted with a pulse less non-breathing patient, perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation, defibrillation, pulmonary ventilation by means of an endotracheal tube and administer appropriate cardiac drugs prior to contacting the nearest hospital.
(3) Establish an intravenous or intraosseous line in a peripheral vein and administer any intravenous solution approved by the Medical Director for use by EMT-Ps prior to contacting the receiving hospital.
May perform an of the following procedures if allowed by the County EmergencyMedical Services System in which they function: (1) patient assessment; (2) basic life support techniques in accordance with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross including airway management and cardiopulmonary resuscitation; (3) Oxygen administration; (4) hemorrhage control; (5) treatment for shock; (6) bandaging and dressing soft tissue injuries; (7) application of military anti-shock trousers; (8) splinting fractures and dislocations; (9) treatment of injuries to the head, face, eye, neck and spine; (10) treatment of injuries to the chest, abdomen and genitalia; (11) provision of basic life support for medical injuries; (12) assisting in normal and abnormal childbirth; (13) treatment of injuries as a result of exposure to heat and cold; (14) treatment of burns; (15) lifting and moving patients for transfer to a medical facility; and (16) extrication of patients from confined areas.
Responds to non-emergency calls, such as requests to transport patients from hospitals to their homes or from a local medical facility to a specialized medical center.
Participates in a continuous training program to improve competence in medical clinical work and in ambulance service and operation; studies street and road patterns and networks of the County in order that future runs may be made with minimum difficulty and delay.
Operates a fire fighting vehicle in responding to fire alarms; activates pagers for fire calls and proceeds to the scene of the fire; takes command of the fire scene until properly relived by superior; and performs fire suppression and fire rescue activities.
Maintains and ensures the operational readiness of departmental vehicles and equipment; performs preventive maintenance tasks and scheduled testing of all firefighting apparatus; makes repairs to equipment and vehicles when necessary; and maintains fixed asses inventory.
Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports; maintains vehicle and equipment maintenance records; prepares incident fire reports, training reports, and hydrant inspection reports.
Performs fire station and grounds maintenance including sweeping, vacuuming, mowing grass, washing vehicle, etc.
Performs other related work as required

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
* Performs Firefighter duties for the protection of life and property. Inspects buildings and facilities and properties for safety hazards upon request of owner or occupant.
* Learns, understands, and abides by all Fire Department Standard Operational Guidelines, general orders, and risk management procedures. Participates in training sessions dealing with rescue and emergency situations and maintains a high level of job proficiency.
* Takes regular turn in housekeeping of living quarters and maintenance and grounds keeping of the station.
* Responds as needed to emergency calls and provides assistance on motor vehicle accidents, structure fires, and wildland fires.
* Preforms ALS interventions and transport medicalemergencies as needed (if certified as a paramedic).

* Assists in the placement of utilization of heavy appliance (a device which allows the flow of large amounts of water.) Lifts line over shoulder and uses physical strength to continually pull line. Upon charging of attack line, proceeds to fire and holds line to fire base, bends, stoops
but mainly crawls while inside of structures and pulls line along to put out fires. Due to circumstances of fires will remain inside putting out fires for periods of 15 to 30 minutes on a regular basis. Conducts search and rescue in 2-person teams or may work alone.
* Upon emergency notice (an audible alarm) dons emergency safety equipment, weighing 85 pounds and climbs onto apparatus. Based on type of emergency, performs a variety of tasks ranging from extrication, delivering of direct patient care, and firefighting duties.
* Extricates by a variety of methods ranging from holding and using rescue saw (weighs 50 pounds), holding and using the rescue tools (weight 75 pounds), and applying physical strength to pry open doors, hoods, and separate heavy metal objects.
* Manually uses hux bars, pry bars, and various other forcible entry tools. Remains visually and audibly alert to detect hazards for safety concerns. Remains calm and professional during emergency situations and constantly follows proper safety procedures.
* Crawls throughout structure by hand and searches for potential victims. Upon finding persons, physically removes them by dragging or carrying them out of structure to safety.
* Performs ventilation of structure by carrying and placing ladders outside of structures. Climbs ladder to point above seat of fire and carries tools with them to designated location. Manually cuts roof open with ax, chainsaw, or rescue saw. Ladders will vary in length depending on
structure. Agility and speed are required to reach designated areas and for some emergencies to physically remove victims from roofs or other heights of more than eight (8) feet.
* Knows how and when to use alternative water supply source and location of, care of, general maintenance, and usage of fire streams, extinguishing properties of water, types of water pressures, and variety of foam and foam application.

Responsible for performing technical and specialized work functions associated with providing quality medical care to all members of the community in the event of medicalemergencies, natural disasters, hazardous situations, environmental emergencies, motor vehicle accidents, and other life and death situations.

What You'll Do
As a First Responder, you will directly contribute to LifeLink's life-saving mission. Primary responsibility is to respond to hospital referrals on-site for the purpose of evaluating potential for organ/tissue donation and donor family support. This position will include building and maintaining strong relationships with appropriate hospital professionals. Will work in collaboration with Referral Coordinators (RC), apply the policy and procedures of LifeLink in performing and documenting the timeliness, suitability and response to organ/tissue referrals. Effectively communicate with hospitals, Administrator on Call (AOC), Authorization Administrator on call ( A-AOC) Medical Director on Call (MDOC), management staff, FCC, ORC and HD staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Keeps current with hospital required EMR access, updates and training.
Performs first responder responsibilities in coordination with the appropriate recovery staff, which may include:
Initial onsite response to referrals for evaluation of potential donation
Assess hemodynamic status with medical team
Review of patient's medical records (EMR)
Completion of physical assessment in collaboration with nursing staff, as appropriate
Identification of LNOK in the order of priority per state statute

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Maintain current Florida Paramedic certification, and AHA/Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), 16-hour Emergency Vehicle Operation (EVOC or CEVO), and Current CPR/AED for Health Care Provider (BLS). Must be approved by the E.M.S. Medical director to practice as a Paramedic.

Education and Experience

Physical Requirements:

Part-time (8-24 scheduled hours/week) work 1-2, 12 or 8 hour shifts with varied start times (4:00am - 8:00am). Employee should be available and willing to work varying shift hours as assigned to include nights, weekends and holidays. Employee may be re-called to duty in the event of a declared disaster or emergency.

Job Summary
The Firefighter/Paramedic must represent the RELIVE brand and maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. This role requires patient care and education regarding IV Vitamin therapy as well as hormone replacement therapy, as well as administering treatments to patients
Responsibilities
Administer IV Vitamin Therapy, and shots to patients.
Performed venipuncture, accessed implanted ports, maintained peripheral IV lines
Perform infusions and monitor patient's status throughout the entire infusion as well as manage emergency reactions.
Perform blood draws as per the required instructions provided by the lab.
Maintain a safe and sanitary environment by applying principles of medical asepsis and infection control techniques and universal precautions
Liaise with admin and other medical team members pre and post-therapy and participate in shared decision making
Accurately use the online booking systems
Provided documentation to the Admin team for submission to EHR
Prepare and track inventory to maintain 100% in stock of supplies and Vitamin therapy.
Completes other tasks within the scope of the Medic.
Qualifications
Paramedic or Firefighter Certification. Previous experience in IV Infusion is desirable. Certified in BLS and ACLS.
Critical thinking, compassionate, non-judgmental, with attention to detail, and organized. Calm under pressure and ability to work unsupervised.
Needs to be a patient listener, a good communicator, and demonstrate the ability to establish effective working relationships with other staff as well as with referral sources
