Performs interventional radiology and invasive cardiology procedures under the supervision of a qualified physician. Uses radiologic technology and techniques to assist in the diagnosis of patient medical problems for patients throughout the age continuum.
PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

2. *Assists Interventional Radiologist or Cardiologist in all types of procedures performed with angiography, fluoroscopy and ultrasound.
3. *Practices radiation and laser safety for patients, staff and self.
4. *Uses sterile technique as required.
5. *Optimally demonstrates patient anatomy through proper positioning and selection of technical factors. Records, analyzes and documents clinical patient information; recognizes and communicates arrhythmias; monitors arterial and/or venous pressure lines.
6. *Functions in the first scrub role by preparing, organizing and anticipating needed instruments, supplies and equipment for safe patient care for interventional radiology and invasive cardiology procedures.
7. Competently operates all radiology equipment and support systems to include EMR, Scheduling System and PACS.
8. *Utilizes hospital and department computer systems, files and PACS to review patient history and to provide accurate documentation of studies to include patient clinical information.
9. *Properly cares for and images patients of all ages; maintains patient confidentiality.
10. *Coordinates exams within the department and with other departments to provide expedient and complete care; communicates with medical staff, coworkers, patients, families and other hospital staff to ensure quality patient care; shares pertinent information regarding patient conditions with physicians, nurses and other professional staff as needed for patient care.
11. *Handles telephone calls for scheduling, coordination or questions with courtesy and accuracy.
12. Provides information to patients and families to reduce anxiety and convey an attitude of acceptance, sensitivity and caring.
13. *Participates in the departments quality improvement plan as required. Initiates problem solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships with peers.
14. *Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment as necessary; notifies supervisor of equipment problems and calls appropriate service vendors as needed.
15. *Keeps work area properly supplied.
16. Assists with departmental orientation and student clinical education as directed.
17. *Accesses and administers drugs and biologicals that are pertinent to essential job functions in accordance with Medical Center procedures.
18. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
19. Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Graduate from a school of radiologic technology with current certification or eligibility for certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required. Valid Nebraska state medical radiographer license required.

Cleans and follows appropriate sterile protocol to insure OR case carts are ready in a timely and effective manner.

Maintains adequate supply levels on a daily basis which includes, but it not limited to: operating room linen, scrub salutations and brushes in scrub areas, cover gowns at exits from department, warmers filled with solutions and blankets, etc...
4. Maintains clean environment in direct and indirect patient care areas to promote sterility assurance throughout the OR in accordance with established protocols.
Empties linen and trash containers as needs and follows established guidelines regarding disposal of hazardous materials.
Keeps scrub area clean and floor mopped.
Assists with cleaning and disinfecting the Operating Room rooms using appropriate cleaning solutions, as assigned..
5. Follows HIPAA regulations and ensures that the confidentiality of patients medical, personal, financial records, employee records, and organizational records is maintained.
6. Participates in FCH committees, quality assurance, performance and quality improvement initiatives, and activities which support the facility and department operations.
