Job DescriptionDescription: The C.N.A., EMT, or Paramedic assists patients with activities of daily living for all patients and assists in maintaining a safe and clean environment under the direction of and supervision of the RN in charge of the unit. Also, greets and interviews patients and obtains signatures for the purpose of initiating the patient record. Scheduled workdays and times could vary and will include weekends. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Supports and promotes an environment conducive with the Mission, Vision, and Values of the hospital. Assist patients in a manner conducive to the patient's comfort and safety. Take and record vital signs, height, weight, intake and output, and measurements as applicable, in an accurate and precise manner. Notifies nurse of changes in patient's condition in a timely and appropriate manner Keeps and maintains the ER Central Logbook and follows all EMTALA regulations. Greets and interviews patients and obtains signatures for the purpose of initiating the patient record. Generates the admission records on the computer. Creates proper ID bands, and paperwork necessary for patient identification and billing purposes. Transports patients as needed though the facility. Maintain confidentiality of all patients, hospital, or physician related information Assists with daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning of work and storage areas. Maintain orderly condition of assigned work area. Is knowledgeable of general hospital policies and procedures. Other duties may be assigned and are subject to change with or without prior notice. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None Requirements: EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Must be able to read, write and communicate in English. Graduation from high school or GED is preferred. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Successful completion of a vocational program for nursing assistants including the State of Illinois Competency Exam or completion of required portion of a RN program Successful completion of EMT or Paramedic program CPR certification or willing to obtain within 60 days. In compliance with Criminal Background Check requirement PHYSICAL DEMANDS Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing and walking Required to climb, balance, stoop, and kneel.
