The Surgical Technologist is responsible for aseptic technique, setting up the required equipment, instrumentation and sterile supplies as needed for their assigned cases; scrubbing and passing instruments and equipment during surgical procedures; pulling cases as needed, breaking down cases at the end of the procedure, sets up operating room and supplies needed for day/following day's schedule. Available for call on an assigned scheduled basis as required by unit need. Perform other duties as assigned.

Graduate of an ORT training program or on the job training with a minimum of 3 years experience (surgical setting preferred). Experience in scrubbing minor and major procedures in the generalized surgical specialties, (i.e., GYN, General and Plastics). Experience in scrubbing at least minor procedures in the specialty surgical areas (i.e., ortho, neuro, ENT, Uro. Etc.). Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.

The Surgical Technologist demonstrates basic knowledge and skills in the scrub role, necessary to provide assistance during surgical procedures performed in the department.
Education:
Required: Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited surgical technology program.
Preferred: Associate degree.
Experience:
Preferred: 1 year.
Certifications:
Required: AHA BLS, Surgical Technologist certification.
