Summary:
The Occupational Therapy Assistant provides direct, hands-on therapeutic interventions to support patients in regaining or developing skills necessary for daily living. Working under the supervision of a licensed OT, the Occupational Therapy Assistant implements individualized treatment plans, assists with adaptive techniques and equipment, and educates patients and their families on strategies to enhance functional independence.
Essential Work Functions:
Deliver individualized occupational therapy interventions and treatments in accordance with the established treatment plan
Maintain and operate adaptive equipment and assistive devices integral to occupational therapy interventions
Provide education to patients and care givers about occupational therapy techniques and strategies for effective self-management
Collaborate with Occupational Therapists and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive patient care and ensure continuity of treatment
Monitor patient responses during treatment, accurately documenting outcomes in the medical record
Promptly report findings to the supervising Occupational Therapist
Provide care in diverse clinical settings, including hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and community clinics, adapting interventions to meet the specific needs of each environment
Adjust effectively to various clinical settings and evolving patient care needs, demonstrating flexibility in practice
Prioritize tasks efficiently to manage multiple patients and responsibilities in a dynamic work environment
Maintain a safe treatment environment by adhering to infection control protocols, safety guidelines, and regulatory standards while addressing patients' comfort needs during therapy sessions
Perform additional duties assigned within scope of practice

* You will determine donor eligibility; to include, proper management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
* You will evaluate donor reaction(s), which occurs at the facility as outlined in the SOPs. Follow applicable SOPs for medicalemergencies including the development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
* You will refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs (as applicable) when in need of providing unacceptable findings to donors, or guidance concerning medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
* You will support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
* You will manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER. Refer to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents.
* You can be a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.

Performs daily inventory of ambulances and ensures their readiness to respond to emergencies. Checks all equipment on board the ambulance and ensures it is operating properly.
Applies bandages and dressing on soft tissue injuries as needed to stop bleeding; applies pneumatic anti-shock pants on patients as per protocol to maintain profusion of patient's vital signs; lifts and carries patients from scene to ambulance according to established procedures. How you will contribute
* You will determine donor eligibility; to include, proper management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
* You will evaluate donor reaction(s), which occurs at the facility as outlined in the SOPs. Follow applicable SOPs for medicalemergencies including the development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
* You will refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs (as applicable) when in need of providing unacceptable findings to donors, or guidance concerning medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
* You will support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
* You will manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER. Refer to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents.
* You can be a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.
What you bring to Takeda:
* High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
* Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-Paramedic
* Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
* Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy

Prepares and submits a variety of reports related to fire incidents and pre-fire plan activity; performs general maintenance necessary to maintain department building and equipment; sweeps and cleans station rooms, makes beds, washes walls, floors, and widows.
Performs various maintenance tasks such as painting, servicing equipment, cleaning, polishing, testing, and repairing firefighting apparatus; services, maintains, and repairs fire trucks; maintains breathing apparatus and other safety equipment.
Completes and passes a yearly work capacity test consisting of an arduous pack test consisting of a 3-mile walk wearing 45 pounds in less than 45 minutes and completes Department Job Task Simulation.
50% AEMT/Paramedic
Evaluates patient's condition and/or injuries; evaluates accident scenes and/or medicalemergencies and administers aid as per protocol; monitors patient's vital signs and provides basic life support until transported to the Operates resuscitation and suction devices during cardiopulmonary resuscitation; applies vacuum splints, cervical collars, backboards, and various other medical devices used to immobilize patients during transport and extrication.
Performs daily inventory of ambulances and ensures their readiness to respond to emergencies. Checks all equipment on board the ambulance and ensures it is operating properly.
Applies bandages and dressing on soft tissue injuries as needed to stop bleeding; applies pneumatic anti-shock pants on patients as per protocol to maintain profusion of patient's vital signs; lifts and carries patients from scene to ambulance according to established procedures. Transports patients via ambulance to hospitals.
Cleans ambulances and equipment in a safe manner to prevent exposure to medical waste and other hazards associated with medical operations. Disposes of contaminated equipment and material according to governing regulations.
Attends public gatherings to ensure observance of fire safety requirements, standards, and regulations; conducts tours for interested groups.
Performs other related duties as required by the Chief.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Utah State Certified Advanced EMT or Paramedic, and

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Must have a valid State of Utah driver's license or obtain one prior to employment, and be deemed insurable to operate city equipment and vehicles.
PALS/ALS within 12 months of hire.
Must be Wildland Firefighter 1 (NWCG FFT2) within 12 months of hire.
Must be 18 years of age.
Must pass NFPA 1582 medical and physical requirements.
Must be able to drive and operate all types of fire and EMS apparatus.
Able to work up to 1508 hours per year.
