FIREFIGHTER/EMT salary is $53,498.35 annually, which includes F.L.S.A. Additional monetary incentives may apply. Typically shift work: 24 hours on/48 hours off. Under occasional supervision, performs fire suppression duties and provides emergencymedical treatment at the EMT or Paramedic level on assigned shift. Performs duties in accordance with all established policies, procedures and medical protocol. Maintains and prepares required records and reports. Participates in training, fire prevention and education programs as required. Reports to the Lieutenant.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
Responds to emergency fire, medical, hazardous material, auto accident and other emergencies. Performs fire suppression duties to protect the lives and property of those in need of assistance.
Responds to emergencymedical calls, providing basic, intermediate and advanced life support treatment to patients as well as transportation to appropriate medical facilities. Obtains patient medical history if possible; assesses physical condition of patients and assists in making or makes decisions regarding proper courses of action. Performs such duties as CPR, splint application, immobilization of body, wound treatment, control of bleeding, monitoring and relaying of vital signs, sterile suctioning, and oxygen therapy; Paramedics also perform cardiac monitoring, medication calculation and administration, IV therapy, intubation, defibrillation, ECG monitoring and the management of cardiac arrest and severe trauma patients. Performs extrication of victims from wreckage as necessary.
Maintains radio communications with dispatch center, hospital personnel and other public safety agencies to receive and to transmit instructions involving patient care. Provides instructions to first responders and bystanders in the use of first aid equipment. Determines the need for back-up assistance.
Completes required records and forms documenting patient treatment.
Responds to requests for emergency rescue, hazardous materials spills, environmental emergencies, etc.
Performs all duties in accordance with established medical protocol, policies and procedures.
Assists with the inspection and maintenance of emergency vehicles and the performing of daily supply and equipment inventory; restocks equipment in preparation for subsequent medical responses and shifts.
Participates in general fire prevention, public education and public relations efforts, including making presentations to various groups and conducting station tours.
Participates in employee training programs.
Provides leadership and instruction to new and/or subordinate fire personnel as assigned.
Keeps abreast of new technology, methods and regulations for equipment operations, fire prevention and suppression operations, EMS operations, etc.; attends meetings, conferences and continuing education classes as required and/or appropriate.
Remains on call 24 hours per day for emergencies. Prepares a variety of reports and records.
Operates a vehicle, ambulance and fire engine, and operates/uses all fire suppression equipment, hand and power tools, self-contained breathing apparatus, generators, rescue equipment and protective gear, signaling devices, siren, camera, leak detectors, thermal imaging camera, heat detectors, extrication devices, life-saving/ life supporting equipment, medical instruments and supplies. Operates various office machines including a computer, two-way radio, telephone, etc.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs station maintenance duties, including housekeeping and minor repairs. Cleans equipment and vehicles.
Collects and properly disposes of hazardous waste materials.
Prepares pre-fire plans. Tests and maintains hydrants, pumps and hoses. Orders and inventories station supplies.
Performs related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications and Standards Required
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and able to lawfully work in the U.S., hold a State of Florida Certificate of Compliance Fire Standards (FF I and II), State of Florida Paramedic Certification, Current CPR Card, Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification), EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operations Course) 16-hour certificate, Valid Florida Driver's License, High School Diploma or GED, FEMA ICS-100, 200, 700, 800 course completion certificates. Candidates must submit to, and successfully pass, a national fingerprint based criminal history check coordinated by the Kissimmee Police Department in accordance to the standards established by Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) standards. Candidates must complete, and recertify every two years, Criminal Justice Information Systems security awareness training, via CJIS Online, which is coordinated by the Kissimmee Police Department.
Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of machines and equipment including emergency vehicles, pumps, fire-fighting equipment, emergencymedical equipment, computer, telephone/radio, etc. Must be able to exert up to twenty pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work; must be able to remain on feet for periods of time, withstand uncomfortable and/or dangerous physical conditions at fire scenes, and perform manual tasks. Must be able to lift, position and/or carry weights of up to 100 pounds.
Knowledge of Job: Has thorough knowledge of the methods, procedures and policies of the Fire Department as they pertain to the performance of duties of the Firefighter. Understands the role of the position in relation to entire City operations. Has considerable knowledge of the functions and interrelationships of City and other governmental agencies. Is knowledgeable in the laws, ordinances, standards and regulations pertaining to the specific duties and responsibilities of the position. Has knowledge in the areas of fire science, hydraulics, emergencymedical technology, medical reporting, mechanics, electrical, etc. Is able to drive and operate emergency vehicles with safety. Knows how to determine and ensure safety on fireground.
Has the ability to use independent judgment and discretion in critical situations such as response to fires, medicalemergencies, and other natural and man-made emergency/disaster situations. Knows how to utilize various pieces of firefighting equipment and tools in a safe and efficient manner. Has comprehensive knowledge of first aid and basic (EMT) or advanced (Paramedics) life support methods and theories. Is skilled in administering first aid and CPR as needed, as well as other emergencymedical treatments and assistance. Has knowledge of and skill in all techniques used by EMTs or Paramedics. Has knowledge of protocols and the appropriate use of same. Is knowledgeable of medical terminology as related to pre-hospital treatment and medicine, and is able to interpret and use legal terminology as required. Is able to recognize signs and symptoms of various illnesses and injuries. Is able to make sound, educated decisions that affect lives. Is physically able to fight fires and provide rescue and medical assistance at emergency scenes. Is able to perform duties under adverse environmental conditions such as excessive heat, cold, odors, smoke, fumes / toxic agents, wetness, noise, humidity, machinery hazards, violence, electric currents, violence and disease. Is able to perform according to standards despite working long hours and intense, exhausting schedules. Has knowledge of applicable occupational hazards and safety precautions. About the role:

You will determine donor eligibility to donate plasma, management of donor adverse events, review of laboratory test results, and donor notification of unsuitable test results. The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) works under the guidance of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager as applicable) for operational guidance and under the management of the Center Physician for medical issues. The Medical Support Specialist will be familiar with regulations of the plasma collection industry or a manufacturing environment. The Medical Support Specialist follows guidance provided by BioLife Medical Affairs and provides center level support of environmental, health and safety (EHS).
How you will contribute
* You will determine donor eligibility; to include, proper management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
* You will evaluate donor reaction(s), which occurs at the facility as outlined in the SOPs. Follow applicable SOPs for medicalemergencies including the development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
* You will refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs (as applicable) when in need of providing unacceptable findings to donors, or guidance concerning medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
* You will support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
* You will manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER. Refer to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents.
* You can be a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.

* High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements

Monitoring vital signs during treatment and taking patient vitals pro and post dialysis; blood pressure, temperature, weight and documenting it on the Hemodialysis Treatment Record
Perform vascular access evaluation pre-treatment and report unusual findings to RN immediately
Perform cannulation of patient's vascular access or performing catheter care, as allowed by state law.
Obtain homeostasis and apply appropriate dressings.
Adheres to all facility policies, procedures, and protocols, participates in all required staff meetings.
Collects patient data, monitor and document status of vascular accesses, and patient observations.
Reviews lab work, collecting or obtaining blood samples and blood culture specimens and prepares package for shipping.
Immediately reports abnormal findings or change in status to assigned RN for further evaluation.
Communicates all emergencies, patient life-threatening complications, and related situations to the attention of the RN for further instruction.
Maintains compliance with safety and infection preventative measures, ensuring patient safety.
Reinforces education with patients and family members on all aspects of End Stage Renal Disease.
Assists in the management of inventory supplies.
Other duties, as assigned.
CUSTOMER SERVICE:
Responsible for supporting the values and customer service standards of HDS/DCC.
Accountable for outstanding customer service to all staff, clients and vendors
Develops and maintains effective relationships through effective and timely communication.
Initiates action to respond, resolve and follow up regarding customer service issues with all customers in a timely manner.
EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess a minimum of High School diploma or GED
Current CCHT, Bonent or State required certificate
Current CPR card
EXPERIENCE:
Must be PC proficient and able to thrive in a fast-paced setting; experience in Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word and Excel a must
Good presentation & communication skills
Must be productive & resourceful with the ability to meet deadlines
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
1 or more years' experience as a certified Patient Care Technician preferred
Must be a self-starter who can work independently yet function in a highly collaborative, fast-paced team environment.
Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines effectively
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong data entry, organizational and interpersonal skills
High integrity, team player with patient service focus and flexibility
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

Working hours can vary including the days, nights, weekends, and holidays. This position requires extensive travel between assigned patient's homes and may be up to long distances depending on the patient's needs. Travel to scheduled staff meeting may be required. PCTs spend considerable time walking, bending, stretching, and standing; assisting in patient transfers. PCTs must follow proper body mechanics and procedures for lifting/ repositioning patients without injury. PCTs may face hazards from exposure to chemicals and infectious/ contagious diseases. The work environment is characteristic of a dialysis facility with air temperature control and moderate noise.
Ability to lift at least 30 pounds. Moving, lifting or transferring of patients may involve lifting of up to fifty (50) pounds.
Must be able to pass the Isahara's Color Blindness Test.
