They also respond to all hazardous material incidents, confined space rescues, high angle rope rescues, motor vehicle accidents, entrapments and all requests for emergency medical services. All Fire Safety Technicians are required to be able to wear full firefighter turnout gear and SCBA during emergency response and incident mitigation. When not responding to emergencies the Fire Safety Technician will perform daily vehicle checks, inventory of all specialized rescue gear and equipment, drive and operate specialized fire apparatus to include: fire engine, rescues, special hazards and an ambulance. production support of shipbuilders by performing certification of hazardous and non-hazardous atmospheres for work in all confined spaces. Fire-safety inspections of all EB owned and leased buildings as well as submarine units will be completed by this position, issuance of and provide surveillance(s) for all hot-work being performed on the facility and code enforcement in accordance with NFPA, OSHA, RI State Fire Code, Electric Boat and US Navy requirements.
