Job Summary: Under close supervision, the Radiologic Technologist (Multi-Modality) performs a variety of duties in the Department of Radiology/ Imaging Services of Alameda Health System related to general Radiography/Fluoroscopy. Performs various diagnostic imaging examinations of patients as directed for diagnostic and treatment purposes according to established procedures. Performs related duties as required.

Assists Physician in administering opaque media (contrast)
Rotates assignments within the department by assigned shifts as required to meet departmental needs
Processes Images as appropriate for Modality (CR/DR/Film) and is proficient in utilizing the PACS system (Picture Archival Communications)
Maintains adequate records of examinations/dose/contrast as directed, and appropriately utilizing two patient identifier with each patient exam
Assists with movement of patients (rooming/transport)

With 28 fire stations and 34 companies serving a population of 394,000, the ACFD serves densely populated urban areas, waterways, industrialized centers, extensive urban interface, agricultural and wildland regions. Over 400 personnel and 100 Reserve Firefighters provide a wide variety of services to an ever expanding, dynamic and diverse community of roughly 508 square miles. These services include: Advanced Life Support Fire Suppression Hazardous Materials Response Urban Search & Rescue Water Rescue Community Outreach & Education Disaster Preparedness Fire Prevention and Code Compliance Regional Dispatch The Alameda County Fire Department (ACFD) was formed on July 1, 1993, as a dependent special district with the Alameda County Board of Supervisors as its governing body. This consolidation brought together into a single jurisdiction the Castro Valley Fire Department, Eden Consolidated Fire Protection District and County Fire Patrol. Subsequently, the following communities have contracted with the ACFD: July 1, 1995 City of San Leandro July 1, 1997 City of Dublin August 1, 2002 Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory October 1, 2007 Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory May 1, 2010 City of Newark July 1, 2010 City of Union City July 1, 2012 City of Emeryville On January 20, 2008, the ACFD became responsible for the administration and operation of the Alameda County Regional Emergency Communications Center (ACRECC). The dispatch center provides dispatch and regional communication center services for the ACFD, the Alameda County EmergencyMedical Services Agency, Camp Parks Combat Support Training Center, and the cities of Alameda, Fremont, Livermore and Pleasanton. THE POSITION Under general supervision, to respond to fire alarms and other emergency (or non-emergency) calls involving the suppression, extinguishment, and prevention of fires (structural and wildlands); to protect life, property, and environment, including rescue and salvage operations and mitigation of hazardous materials incidents; to clean, maintain and repair (when possible) fire station property and environment; to train and drill for emergency preparedness; to use computers to log calls, log training data, and communicate with co-workers, supervisors, and the public; and to perform related duties as required. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES This is a safety classification within the Alameda County Fire Department. This classification is distinguished from the classification of Firefighter in that the classification requires the successful completion of the Alameda County Fire Department Lateral Firefighter Academy in order to flexibly promote to the Firefighter classification. It is also distinguished from the lower classifications of Firefighter Recruit - EMT and Firefighter Recruit - Paramedic as the latter classifications are required to successfully complete the Alameda County Fire Department Firefighter Recruit Training Program to flexibly promote to the Firefighter classification. This classification is further distinguished from the classification of Firefighter Lateral - EMT in that incumbents in this classification are required to maintain a California paramedic license. Upon successful completion of the training requirements, it is expected that incumbents successfully obtain Alameda County Paramedic accreditation and promote to the class of Firefighter. Incumbents will serve a combined probationary period of fourteen (14) months in the Firefighter Lateral - Paramedic and Firefighter classifications. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from high school, possession of an acceptable equivalency certificate, such as the General Educational Development Certificate (State of California), or any higher-level degree from an accredited college or university. Substitution: Two (2) seasons of professional firefighting experience with a seasonal fire agency may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

EXAMINATION COMPONENTS
The examination will consist of the following steps: A review of applicants' applications to verify possession of minimum requirements. JOB SUMMARY:
The Health Technician I is responsible for screening clients for potential medical and or mental health problems meeting 5150 criteria, withdrawal severity referring for definitive medical and or mental health care when appropriate. Provide medical and or mental health care within scope of practice. Monitor and document withdrawal symptoms and mental health symptoms.

Perform health screening for all potential clients.
Monitor vitals, medical triage, and assess clients' needs for sobering.
Maintain records of client's medication in logbook and EHR system (if applicable}.
Perform appropriate assessment which may include rapid risk intoxication assessment and vitals for every client entering the sobering center.
Document observations 30 min
Case notes every 6 hours (in EHR if applicable} which includes medications observation, case management, crisis interventions and discharge
Create a welcoming environment for participants.
Perform conflict resolution and de-escalation of hostile client.
Respond to crises, emergencies and other client needs in an appropriate and timely manner.
Provide Transportation as necessary and when requested.
Team Support:
Work collaboratively as part of the multi-disciplinary team at the Recovery Station.
Daily monitoring and maintenance of client files (EHR if applicable} for errors, corrections, and updating.
Participate in daily shift change and report health related concerns and alerts.
Collaborate with Lead Nurse Coordinator and or LVN to reduce excessive Emergency room visits for medication clearances.
Support in keeping a clean and safe environment.
Quality Assurance Support:
Daily monitoring and maintenance of client files (EHR if applicable} for errors, corrections, and updating.
Ensure all completed assessments are placed in file and or scanned and uploaded into the client chart daily.
Ensure all medication clearances and Emergency Room discharge paperwork is placed in file and or scanned and uploaded daily into the client chart.
Document all medical concerns and observations in client file (EHR if applicable} and give verbal report to Detox staff upon transferring a client to Detox from Sobering if applicable.

Established in 1866, the San Francisco Fire Department is rich in tradition and history. From the Great Earthquake and Fire of 1906 to the Loma Prieta Earthquake of 1989, the Department has grown to meet the many challenges along the way. Today, the San Francisco Fire Department serves an estimated 1.5 million people, providing fire suppression, fire prevention and emergencymedical services to the residents, visitors and workers within San Francisco's 49 square miles.
Job Description
This is a deep classification encompassing three levels: Level I EMT; Level II Paramedic and Level III Firefighter Paramedic. Depending on the level in the deep class, incumbents may perform
basic
life support duties on an ambulance (Level I EMT); perform
advanced
life support duties on an ambulance (Level II Paramedic); or respond to fire alarms engaging in firefighting activities and performing advanced life support duties (Level III Firefighter Paramedic).
The list established from this selection process may be used by the Fire Department to fill vacancies at Level I and Level II.
Detailed descriptions for Levels I and II are below. The descriptions are cumulative in that Level II may be required to perform the duties defined in Level I.
Level I - EMT
Under general supervision, responds to medical and other emergencies and engages in life support and life-saving activities; performs emergencymedical service (EMS); maintains equipment; staffs and drives an ambulance to provide initial emergencymedical care in a pre-hospital setting; evaluates and administers advanced first aid, basic life support and life maintenance measures in accordance with EmergencyMedical Service Agency (EMSA) policies and procedures, including CPR, definitive therapeutic care at the scene of an emergency or during transport of persons; provide community health screening and other non-emergency health services; protects the privacy of patients treated by SFFD, safeguards patient information and uses and discloses patient information in accordance with the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the privacy practices of SFFD; may perform duties of either driving ambulances, EMT attendant and other related duties as assigned. Works a 40-hour week, including days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays; shift to be determined by operational requirements. Incumbents must maintain superior physical strength, agility and stamina to carry out the intense physical duties of the position.
Level II - Paramedic
In addition to the above, required to provide advanced emergencymedical care to victims of fire and activities for saving lives and property, including medical scene size-up, establishing medical command post, reporting to incident commander or EMS Captain and implementing medical Incident Command System (ICS); supports rescue activities in a variety of situations; renders first aid, treatment for shock, cardiac compression, resuscitation, and prevention of blood loss; responds to trauma or medicalemergencies; performs primary and secondary evaluation of patients to assess conditions, triages in major disasters; administers proper procedural emergency treatment; institutes emergency care and/or advanced life support to stabilize patient conditions, including cardiac pulmonary resuscitation, defibrillation, drug administration, invasive procedures and definitive therapy; as part of EMS response, conducts hazard assessment of residences, places of business, public assemblage, schools, and hospitals to ensure compliance with fire codes, ordinances, laws and regulations, and refers potential hazards/violations to appropriate Fire Department division; participates in training and physical fitness programs as required.
Qualifications
This selection process is open to individuals meeting at least all of the minimum qualifications listed for Level I below at the time of application filing. Individuals who meet minimum qualifications for Level II may be considered by the Department at that level.
H003 Minimum Qualifications: (All levels)
Age: Applicants must be at least 19 years old at the time of application and must be at least 20 years old at the time of appointment. [Civil Service Rule 310.15]
Education: Applicants must have a high school diploma or an equivalency certificate (e.g., G.E.D., California High School Proficiency Certificate) to apply.
Driving Record: Applicants must possess a valid driver license with seven years driving record verified during Background Investigation. Applicants must possess a valid Class A, B, or C California Driver License by the time of their appointment. Applicants will not be considered eligible to participate or to be appointed if any of the following occurred, or is in effect at any time, during the period from “one year prior to application up to the date of appointment”:
(a) Any offense that subsequently results in a conviction for driving under the influence, reckless driving, or hit and run with personal injury or property damage over $25.00; or any offense that occurred within a three-year period prior to appointment.
(b) License suspension or revocation, three moving violations in 12 months, 5 moving violations in 24 months, or probation as a result of a driving-related offense.
[Note: Applicants who proceed to the Background Investigation phase of the selection process must provide on their background forms a full and complete listing of all motor vehicle violations. Any significant discrepancy between an applicant's statement and the Department of Motor Vehicles' records will result in disqualification.]
Criminal Record: Applicants must not have been convicted of a felony in this state, or in any other state or in any federal or other jurisdiction, of an act that would be considered a felony if committed in this state. Applicants must not have been on probation for a misdemeanor offense from one year prior to application through the time of appointment. Convictions for misdemeanors within one year prior to application will be evaluated individually and may result in disqualification.

Applicants must disclose if they have ever been convicted of any felony or misdemeanor offense in California or in any other state or place, including entering a plea of nolo contendere or no contest, and including any conviction which has been expunged (set aside) under Penal Code Section 1203.4.]
Additional Minimum Qualifications for Level I:
1. Possession of a current and valid CAEmergencyMedicalTechnician (EMT) Certification issued by the State of CA [required by the application filing deadline] and the ability to accredit with the local EMS Authority [required prior to appointment].
2. Possession and maintenance of valid Class A, B, or C CADL w/Ambulance Driver certificate/endorsement at time of appointment.
3. Any combination of 500 hours of verifiable work experience as an EMT (on an ambulance or first responder vehicle) or hours of documented ambulance ride-along as a member of the San Francisco Fire Reserves within the last three years, at the time of application filing;
OR
Any combination of 1,000 hours of verifiable work experience as an EMT (on an ambulance or first responder vehicle) or hours of documented ambulance ride-along as a member of the San Francisco Fire Reserves within the last five years, at the time of application filing.
Additional Minimum Qualifications for Consideration at Level II:
Possession and maintenance of a valid CAEmergencyMedicalTechnician Paramedic (Paramedic) license issued by the State of CA and the ability to accredit with local EMS Agency.
Possession and maintenance of valid Class A, B, or C CADL w/ Ambulance Driver certificate / endorsement at time of appointment.
1,000 hours verifiable work experience as a Paramedic (on an ambulance or first responder vehicle) within the last three years; OR 1,500 hours verifiable work experience as a Paramedic (on an ambulance or first responder vehicle) within the last five years at the time of application filing.
Additional Information
The following documents and verifications must be submitted if and when requested by the SFFD Background Investigation Unit:
1. A copy of the respective current & valid certification
2. A copy of the respective current & valid CADL (with Ambulance Driver certificate for LI & LII)
3. Verification of experience. Acceptable verification would be a letter from an employer which specifies the applicant's job title, duties, dates of employment and hours worked per week while working with that employer. Pay stubs may substitute for information regarding hours worked. However, all other information must be confirmed through an official letter from the employer and the letter must include the employer's letterhead.
Candidates who do not submit the required verifications as requested will no longer be considered qualified or allowed to participate further in the selection process.
Written Test (100%): Candidates who are invited to participate in the selection process will take a pass/fail multiple-choice test to determine their relative knowledge in job-related areas, which may include, but are not limited to, procedures and practices in emergencymedicine, and current EMT techniques in field & hospital settings. Candidates who pass the Written Exam will advance to subsequent components of the selection process.
Eligible List: Candidate duration on the eligible list will be two years. A candidate must retake the written test thereafter to again be eligible. The certification rule for the eligible list resulting from this selection process will be the Rule of the List. SFFD has the authority to hire any candidate named on the eligible list (“Rule of List”). Therefore, one's placement on this list neither guarantees nor implies an offer of employment. Candidates who receive an offer of employment may waive the offer only once. A second waiver of appointment renders candidates ineligible. All candidates on the eligible list will be placed under administrative waiver until they successfully complete the Departmental Selection Process described below.

Role description
This is a deep classification encompassing three levels: Level I EMT; Level II Paramedic and Level III Firefighter Paramedic. Depending on the level in the deep class, incumbents may perform basic life support duties on an ambulance (Level I EMT); perform advanced life support duties on an ambulance (Level II Paramedic); or respond to fire alarms engaging in firefighting activities and performing advanced life support duties (Level III Firefighter Paramedic).
The list established from this selection process may be used by the Fire Department to fill vacancies at Level I and Level II.
Detailed descriptions for Levels I and II are below. The descriptions are cumulative in that Level II may be required to perform the duties defined in Level I.
Level I - EMT
Under general supervision, responds to medical and other emergencies and engages in life support and life-saving activities; performs emergencymedical service (EMS); maintains equipment; staffs and drives an ambulance to provide initial emergencymedical care in a pre-hospital setting; evaluates and administers advanced first aid, basic life support and life maintenance measures in accordance with EmergencyMedical Service Agency (EMSA) policies and procedures, including CPR, definitive therapeutic care at the scene of an emergency or during transport of persons; provide community health screening and other non-emergency health services; protects the privacy of patients treated by SFFD, safeguards patient information and uses and discloses patient information in accordance with the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the privacy practices of SFFD; may perform duties of either driving ambulances, EMT attendant and other related duties as assigned. Works a 40-hour week, including days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays; shift to be determined by operational requirements. Incumbents must maintain superior physical strength, agility and stamina to carry out the intense physical duties of the position.
Level II - Paramedic

How to qualify
This selection process is open to individuals meeting at least all of the minimum qualifications listed for Level I below at the time of application filing. Individuals who meet minimum qualifications for Level II may be considered by the Department at that level.
H003 Minimum Qualifications: (All levels)
Age: Applicants must be at least 19 years old at the time of application and must be at least 20 years old at the time of appointment. [Civil Service Rule 310.15]

What else should I know?

3. Verification of experience. Acceptable verification would be a letter from an employer which specifies the applicant's job title, duties, dates of employment and hours worked per week while working with that employer. However, all other information must be confirmed through an official letter from the employer and the letter must include the employer's letterhead.
Candidates who do not submit the required verifications as requested will no longer be considered qualified or allowed to participate further in the selection process.
Written Test (100%): Candidates who are invited to participate in the selection process will take a pass/fail multiple-choice test to determine their relative knowledge in job-related areas, which may include, but are not limited to, procedures and practices in emergencymedicine, and current EMT techniques in field & hospital settings. Candidates who pass the Written Exam will advance to subsequent components of the selection process.

Responsibilities
Daily procurement of blood specimens including venipuncture, blood cultures from both inpatients and outpatients. Procurement includes positive patient identification, accurate specimen labeling, specimen handling of identified specimens and timely transport of specimens to the laboratory. Providers must also provide instruction or question patients regarding fasting conditions for blood chemistries, anticoagulant therapy for coagulation studies, etc.
Assists in training and teaching of phlebotomy to Medical Technology students and new phlebotomists in venipuncture and other related phlebotomy techniques.
Serves as a resource person for less-experienced phlebotomy staff and in answering questions and solving on the spot phlebotomy problems that arise.
Inspects, receives, and maintains phlebotomy supply inventory and insures that phlebotomy stock rooms are in clean and orderly fashion.
Processes specimens for the clinical laboratory sections as assigned (i.e. Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, Microbiology) including VISTA accessioning, centrifugation and plasma/serum separation of blood, specimen storage, slide preparation, culture set up, measurement of timed urine specimens, and documentation of specimen status such as special handling requirements, specimen condition (i.e. lipemic, QNS, hemolytic), volumes etc.
Prepares and stains slides such as differentials, gram stains, and reticulocytes.
Prepares specimens, packaging and request forms for send-out reference laboratories.
Builds prints and maintains VISTA phlebotomy collection lists and labels. Maintains tally of outpatients and inpatient phlebotomy. Answers telephone inquiries for laboratory test information, status and results.
Qualifications
Certificate of completion from a phlebotomy vocational program
Current Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) license in the State of California
American Heart Association BLS certification
A minimum of one (1) year of acute care (hospital) Phlebotomy experience

Pay Range: $18.75 - $32.14 hourly
All candidates must be able to:
Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift
Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist
Lift up to 20 lbs
Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance
Push/pull with 30 lbs of force
