Job Description
This position serves in support of the US Air Force life support contract for Wake Island located in the Pacific. The purpose of this position is to provide urgent care medical support to contracted and DOD personnel that are stationed on the Island.
The Advanced EMT will utilize their knowledge and proficiency in evidenced-based medical practice and Intl.SOS protocols to manage unexpected and emergent situations and treat a variety of injuries and illnesses promptly and professionally. The Advanced EMT will serve as the first point of contact for patients being seen for their urgent care needs. The Advanced EMT will also be responsible for clinic upkeep and support the physician. She/ he will competently function as a member of the team to provide patient-based medical care on the project.
Key Responsibilities:
Provides 24/7 response for emergencies that require medical support on the island.
Provide medical care outside of the clinic during emergencies at the level of care of an NREMT Advanced EMT scope of practice.
Receives patients at the clinic during regular business hours (8 am - 4 pm)
Assist medical providers with medical procedures and treatments as allowed within the licensed scope of work.
Assessment and documentation of the patient's vital signs, chief complaint, medical history, and prescribed medications.
Report all changes in the patient's condition to the medical provider.
Proactively and independently Advanced EMT-level care within the standing orders and SOPs without exceeding your licensed scope of care.,
Assist patients with basic care and activities of daily living, as needed.
Provides support and education to help patients make responsible health decisions.
Maintains clinic supply inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level and anticipating needed supplies. Ordering supplies.
Provide education to the client on First aid/ Emergency response as requested.
Participates in training exercises as required by the client.
Restocking when supplies are received and assisting other clinic operators with restocking.
Prepares patient for shipment to the USG IAW the contract.
Ensures that medical equipment is within required calibration timelines.
Serves as the property management user for the company's property system.
Assist the physician with the coordination of medical evacuations as required.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Knowledge
Ability to assess and treat adult patients in pre-hospital settings.
Ability to successfully perform ALS interventions following protocols.
Ability to administer medication in adult patients in accordance with protocols.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Proficient IT skills including the use of electronic medical records systems.

Required Work Experience

Experience in a remote setting is preferred.
Held a military occupation specialty of Army Health Care Specialist, Navy Corpsman, Air Force Medical specialist, or another Uniformed Services equivalent. - Preferred
Qualifications
Hold a current unrestricted US license as an Advanced EMT or Paramedic

The Biomedical Technician is responsible for overseeing the overall operational condition, maintenance and repair of all water treatment equipment, all medical equipment and mechanical/electrical systems to ensure patient safety and the safety of all staff operating such equipment for their assigned clinic(s).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties and tasks may be assigned.
* Demonstrate effective use of supplies and staff labor hours.
* Assist with purchasing as needed: place orders, perform weekly and month end inventory counts.
* Be familiar with the overall procedures used in Inventory Control (FIFO) and assist in the documentation and control of excess inventory.
* Perform duties as assigned to meet the patient care or operational needs of the clinic.
* Troubleshoot, repair and maintain equipment as recommended by the manufacturer.
* Repair, calibrate, test, clean and disinfect dialysis machines, water distribution loop and RO's according to protocol.
* Perform water quality checks to include but not limited to: free chlorine, total chlorine, and water hardness testing.
* Perform safety checks and tests on all pretreatment water equipment including but not limited to carbon tanks, water softeners, RO units, UV lamps and ultrafilters.
* Collect samples of RO water and dialysate for microbiology testing according to protocol.
* Collect water samples for AAMI analysis testing according to protocol.
* Disinfection of central bicarbonate system and mixing tank according to protocol.
* Disinfection of RO, distribution system, and hemodialysis machines according to protocol.
* Perform duties at all times within limitations established by and in accordance with company policy and procedures, applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
* Perform electrical safety on dialysis machines and related equipment.
* Be familiar with instruction manuals and operation for equipment in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations. Be capable of starting up and shutting down facility's equipment if necessary.
* Maintain established preventative maintenance programs and required support documentation.
* Maintain accurate maintenance records for the facility's equipment.
* Have knowledge of the function and safe operation of water treatment equipment and related mechanical and electrical systems.
* Address physical environment issues which could impact patient and staff safety.
* Mix bicarbonate solution according to protocol. Mix acid concentrate solution according to protocol.
* Assist in receiving, storing and stocking of supplies.
* Be familiar with all emergency equipment and emergency operational procedures.
* Use appropriate safety measures including personal protective equipment as necessary.
* Be familiar with OSHA regulations.
* Update Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) as required.
* Be aware of all contracts and contacts necessary for the emergency repair of the clinic's equipment and mechanical systems.
* Obtain quotes from reputable and approved contractors as needed to address physical environment issues.
* Present technical summaries in QAPI meetings.
* Maintain collaborative working relationship with Administrator(s). Partner with Administrator(s) to ensure clinic needs are met.
* Actively promote GUEST customer service standards; develop effective relationships at all levels of the organization.
* Respond effectively to inquiries or concerns.
* Participate in staff meetings as required. Attend in-service and continuing education offerings in compliance with company policy and procedure.
* Complete initial and annual technical training on clinical staff as required.
* Instruct staff in use and care of equipment and answer questions.
* Participate in team concepts and promote a team effort.

The majority of hours worked will be Monday through Friday between 7:30 am and 4:30 pm. Perform some phases of whole blood collection and donor care according to directives, the Code of Federal Regulations and local policies and procedures to ensure safe product and optimum donor experience.

With 118 beds and more than 400 physicians on its medical staff, Pali Momi Medical Center offers a full range of services for the communities of Central and West O'ahu. The hospital has delivered many medical firsts for the community, including Central and West O'ahu's only interventional cardiac catheterization unit to detect and treat heart disease, a fully integrated minimally invasive surgical suite, a comprehensive women's center, CT scan and MRI services, and the state's first retina center. Pali Momi is the only facility in Hawai'i that uses a team triage approach in its emergency room, where patients are promptly evaluated by an emergency physician.
Our Emergency Room provides quality urgent care to all ill and injured patients requiring emergencymedical attention and, if necessary, follow-up care and referrals. As the Emergency Department Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring that the Emergency Room is able to provide quality, effective intervention for patients with critical health conditions. You would support and care for patients under the direct clinical supervision of licensed professionals including monitoring and documenting vital signs and patient flow. We are looking for someone comfortable working in a high-intensity setting that requires remarkable patient care and communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively with others in a team-oriented atmosphere and a commitment to creating a healthier Hawai'i.

Minimum Qualifications: High school or equivalent. Completion of nursing degree, critical care technician or EMT program, or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR card. One (1) year clinical or emergency experience.
Preferred Qualifications: EmergencyMedicalTechnician (EMT) certification. Two (2) years emergency experience with pediatric patients.
