In 2002, H.T. Odum authorized the formation of a society dedicated to research, communication, and education focused on the new ideas of emergy and transformity and their basis in Energy Systems Theory.
EMERGY AS was thus incorporated in 2004, and soon turned its eyes to the then-starting Chinese market.
From this initial concept and after a 5 period of incubation, the International Society for the Advancement of Emergy Research (ISAER), a.k.a., the Emergy Society, was incorporated as a nonprofit corporation in the United States on July 28, 2007.

In 2018, EMERGY acquired Syvashenergoprom LLC, a wind farm company located in Kherson, Ukraine, with a 3 MW wind farm in operation.
At the moment, Syvashenergoprom is extending the wind farm to an installed capacity of 250 MW to be fully commissioned in 2020.
