This role involves assisting with anesthesia administration and monitoring, supporting invasive and non-invasive procedures, and ensuring proper setup and function of advanced equipment. The Technologist II also contributes to staff training through active participation in the orientation and mentoring of new team members. Clinical Support 1. Assists the anesthesiologist in the administration and monitoring of anesthesia, possessing knowledge of anesthesia techniques, instruments, supplies, and technology. 2. May provide support to anesthesiologists with both invasive and non-invasive monitoring, as well as advanced line preparation and placement. Technical Equipment Support 1. Knowledge of advanced equipment testing, calibration, troubleshooting, cleaning, and disinfecting. 2. Must possess a comprehensive understanding of anesthesia equipment, medications, and procedures, and be well-acquainted with various types of anesthesia machines, monitors, and their appropriate usage. 3. May be tasked with ensuring connectivity between anesthesia vital sign monitoring equipment and the Anesthesia charting system. Team Collaboration 1. Assist actively in the orientation and mentoring of new staff. Safety and Infection Control 1. Adhere to principles of sterile technique and other infection control policies and standards to sustain a healthy work environment. Perform related responsibilities as required. Work Type: On-site - Works at a physical workplace, interacting with colleagues face-to-face Minimum Required Qualifications: + Education - High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and two (2) years of work experience as an Anesthesia Technician or Technologist and competency-based evaluation. + Certification - Basic Life Support certification (BLS) + Knowledge, skills, and abilities (required): Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment - Strong communication and interpersonal skills - Proficiency with sterile techniques and procedures. - Demonstrate capability for operating anesthesia supported equipment and patient monitoring - Troubleshooting (Problem Solving): Capacity to logically and systematically search for the source of a problem and makes the product or process operational. - Infection Control: Knowledge of methods and techniques for preventing or stopping the spread of pathogens in hospitals, healthcare facilities, or the workplace. - Medical Terminology: Capability to use the universal language for describing the human body and its processes, medical conditions, diagnoses, treatments, procedures, and instructions throughout the patient care journey to ensure quality/safe care delivery and accurate medical billing. - Patient Monitoring: Capability to use various medical equipment, technology, and clinical knowledge to monitor a patient's vital signs, physiological parameters, and other health indicators to identify potential issues early, contribute to accurate diagnoses and support effective patient care/treatment. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury‑accident to Manager. * Performs daily care activities including bathing, personal hygiene, feeding and dressing patients. * Obtains and records vital signs, intake and output amounts, or other measures as designated, collects and tests specimens as required, and observes patient's condition and reports abnormal symptoms, unusual conditions or adverse reactions to the nurse. * Assists patients with position changes, range of motion exercises, standing, and walking. Transports patients as required for treatments, procedures, etc. * Assists physicians and nurses with physical examination and treatments and performs surgical preps and simple sterile or nonsterile dressing changes. Inserts and removes foley catheters as directed. * Provides additional therapies, procedures and treatments. These skills include but are not limited to NG tube maintenance, EKG lead placement, suction and oxygen setup. * Transports equipment, specimens, blood, etc., throughout the hospital. * Maintains technical training in use of equipment pertinent to specific area. * May enter physician orders for tests, procedures, etc., into computer system. May transcribe medical orders as required. * Documents care activities and patient data in appropriate area of patient record. * Performs 12 lead EKGs as designated by department, following completion of training and competency check-off. * May assist mothers with breast-feeding, provides patient education relating to infant care, checks and assists with monitor equipment and sets up for phototherapy.
