This position will be tasked with performing molecular modeling and computer aided drug design including docking, QSAR, core replacement, and pharmacophore modeling. Candidate should have experience with the following software: Schrödinger (Maestro, Glide, molecular dynamics), Cresset (Flare, FEP), and GraphPad. Ideal candidate will also have wet lab experience including cloning, mammalian cell culture, and recombinant protein expression and purification.

Academic ResearchScientist in Cancer and Kidney Biology Hong Lab
The Hong Lab (******************* is seeking a highly-motivated researchscientist to join a team of scientists using functional genomics to study the development and consequences of abnormal development in the kidney, identify new biology and therapeutic targets in childhood and young adult kidney/brain cancers. These include Wilms Tumor and cancers involving the SWI/SNF chromatin modifying complex such as Renal Medullary Carcinoma, Rhabdoid Tumor and Atypical Teratoid/ Rhabdoid Tumor.
Our research laboratory is housed within the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center at Emory University and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta in the Health Science Research Building. Scientists will have access to resources within the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, the Winship Cancer Institute, the Pediatric Research Alliance along with collaborators at Georgia Institute of Technology. Furthermore, fellows are encouraged to observe the clinical aspects of pediatric oncology to understand the impact of our work on our patients.

+ He was previously on the faculty at Harvard Medical School.
+ He completed his post-graduate and post-doctoral training at Boston Children's Hospital, the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT.
+ His mentorship style is to meet weekly with trainees.
+ This will be through a mix of giving presentations, meeting with donors, learning how to write grants, identifying independent research projects, writing manuscripts together as well as training recent college graduates along with undergraduate and graduate students.

The Research Specialist will assist with NIH-funded studies on HIV immunology. Our research consists of utilizing simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV)-infected non-human primates (NHPs) as a model of HIV pathogenesis to characterize viral persistence during antiretroviral therapy (ART) and test novel immunotherapies to achieve durable viral remission. Operating under senior researchscientists, work will be performed in a fast-paced BSL-2 laboratory setting involving techniques such as processing tissues for immune cell isolation, flow cytometry, and cell culture. **Description**
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Under general supervision, performs a variety of defined research and laboratory tests and experiments according to prescribed protocols and assigned schedules.
+ Sets up experiments as prescribed by a principal investigator.
+ May be required to participate in laboratory maintenance activities such as sterilization and cleaning of equipment, ordering of supplies, inventory and media preparation.
+ Maintains records, files and logs of work performed in laboratory notebooks and computer databases.
+ Compiles data and records results of studies for publications, grants and seminar presentations.
+ Employees in this classification may be required to work with, take specific precautions against and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents.
+ Performs related responsibilities as required by principal investigator.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Animal Handling & Procedures:
+ Tail vein injections
+ Frozen tissue sectioning
+ Rodent dissection
+ Blood sample analysis
+ HPLC for sample analysis
+ Cell Biology Techniques:
+ Cell culture
+ Cell transfection
+ Western blot analysis
+ Immunofluorescence staining
+ Data collection and analysis
+ Lab Maintenance:
+ Order laboratory reagents and consumables, manage lab waste disposal, maintain cleanliness and organization of the lab.
+ Sample Management:
+ Organize and categorize compound samples and ship compound samples.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Bachelor's degree in a scientific field OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
