**Description**
Under the direct supervision of a Research Pharmacist, prepares, compounds, and distributes drugs issued by the Investigational Drug Service (IDS) for ongoing research studies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Assists pharmacists in the daily dispensing process and delivery of doses.
+ Prepares IV doses, both non-hazardous and hazardous.
+ Assists in cleaning and maintenance of IV hoods and the surrounding work environment.
+ Maintains inventory of IV supplies and other supplies needed for dose preparation and compounding.
+ Documents patient returns in Vestigo.
+ Processes drugs for destruction.
+ Processes daily shipments from sponsors by receiving inventory in Vestigo, completing paperwork requirements of shipper and receiving shipments in the various IXRS systems.
+ Completes training as required by sponsors in the various IXRS systems and maintains access to all systems used by sponsors.
+ Performs related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
+ High school diploma or equivalent.
+ At least one year of pharmacy technician experience in a hospital or retail setting, including IV experience.
+ Current CPhT Certification and registration in the state of Georgia are required.
+ Must maintain certifications and registration during entire length of employment.

Major Responsibilities:
Develops competence in dispensing and delivery of medications. This includes developing competence in the department's use of information systems, technology, and automation used for dispensing and storage of medications.
Develops competence in preparing non-sterile products following USP, state, and federal recommendations, as required.
Develops competence in entering medication orders in the computer system and/or processing medication requests via the computer system.
Develops competence in managing phone calls from customers and team members such as nurses, physicians or patients. This includes accurately understanding and interpreting the issue, timely resolution, or timely hand-off to another team member as appropriate.
Develops competence in pharmacy procedures and documentation as required, satisfying legal, regulatory, and department requirements of pharmacy practice.
Complies with legal, regulatory, accreditation standards. This includes (but is not limited to) controlled substance procedures, USP procedures and DNV requirements.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
Must be registered with the Georgia Board of Pharmacy.
Candidates for this role must have excellent communication skills.
Certified Pharmacy Technician status preferred but not required.
Education Required:
High School Graduate.
Experience Required:

Experience in retail pharmacy, managed care, or quality outreach programs preferred.

Under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist our Pharmacy Technician / CPhT procures, prepares, packages, distributes and disposes medications and pharmaceutical supplies to assist the department in providing quality pharmaceutical care for all patients.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred. Successful completion of an ASHP accredited technician training program or enrollment in a professional-related school preferred.
* 6 months experience as Pharmacy Technician or completion of ASHP-accredited tech training program preferred.
* Current CPhT certification through either PTCB or NHA and active Georgia Pharmacy Technician registration, or current enrollment in an accredited School of Pharmacy with a current Georgia Pharmacy Intern license.
* Must maintain certification and registration through entire length of employment.
