JOB DESCRIPTION:
+ Provides specialized research support for assigned patient populations in accordance with established research protocols.
+ Performs patient evaluations, administers medications and research instruments and provides nursing support to perform specialized diagnostic, therapeutic and surgical procedures.
+ May provide direction in the development of appropriate research protocols.
+ Will work as part of a team to provide continuous programmatic coverage to screen, recruit and enroll patients in acute care related research protocols, many of which will evolve in an urgent/emergent manner.
+ Makes referrals to in-house or community professionals and serves as clinical resource and develops and conducts patient and family education, as needed.
+ Collects data, assists in developing data collection systems and compiles reports.
+ The patient population will largely consist of patients in acute care settings to include surgical ICUs and Emergency Rooms, and patients involved in complex, time sensitive surgical procedures such as organ transplants.
ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:
+ Work schedule may require call including weekend and night rotations.
+ Facilitating protocol adherence, sample/data acquisition and investigational drug administration.
+ Assisting in writing research grants, publications in medical and nursing literature, study materials, brochures and correspondence
+ The work environment will include operating rooms, emergency rooms, intensive care units and other challenging environments, under potentially critical/traumatic situations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Georgia and three years of related nursing experience, preferably in acute care, surgery, transplant or related acute care specialty.
+ Must be credentialed through Emory Healthcare under the category of RN II.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Able to function independently and maintain composure under stressful situations.
+ Employees in this classification may be required to work with, take specific precautions against and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents. Performs related duties as required.

Oversee clinic set up and monthly inventory.
Manage clinical equipment by trouble shooting issues and ensuring maintenance as needed.

Job Description
Participates as a member of a multidisciplinary team in completing pre-screening assessments of prospective patients. Ensures completion of appropriate clinical review of all applicable patients as stated in system utilization management plan. Oversees Clinical Review Specialist as indicated. Job Responsibilities

* Coordinates unit staffing to meet the needs of the department. Identifies one managerial problem and initiates test of change. Actively participates in preparation of regulatory agency reviews. Assists in administrative activities such as budget planning, identifying means of cost containment, coordinating unit staffing schedules, and ensuring communication regarding areas of concern to the Unit Director. Supports administrative decisions and facilitates daily operational issues with the staff.
* Challenges and shapes systems on the unit and hospital wide to achieve best possible outcomes. Aware of and supports units and colleagues needs through supportive and non-judgmental behaviors.
* Actively empowers and advocates for nurses. Implements innovative approaches to meet the needs of patients and families. Identifies, recognizes and responds to the needs of unit staff to ensure that staff has the resources and tools available to meet patient and family needs. Takes appropriate action to address customer concerns and complaints (i.e., appropriate follow-up with Unit Director and risk management). Addresses escalated patient issues and refers issues to Unit Director or Patient Advocate when unable to resolve. Monitors issues and their resolution.
* Identifies, initiates, and collaborates to provide needed educational programs. Develops management/ leadership focused in-service (e.g., time management, team building, conflict resolution, budget, leadership activities). Demonstrates current evidence-based practice and disseminates information. Ensures compliance with educational requirements through scheduling, planning, and support.
* Questions management practice as it relates to research. Completes performance reviews with Unit Director input as appropriate. Incorporates Synergy model for care in nurse/patient assignments. Must meet all Clinical Nurse I Employee Commitments. Achieves points and contact hours as defined in the PLAN (clinical lattice) point system to maintain position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Experience: 2 years of recent nursing experience AND a minimum of 2 years of experience in the area of concentration.
Licensure: A valid, unencumbered Registered Nursing License approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing.
Certification: 1. BLS certification 2. ACLS may be required for certain departments, post hire 3. Additional certifications may be required based on department and specialty
PLAN: 1. Must meet all Clinical Nurse Employee Commitments. 2. Achieves electives/points and contact hours as defined in the PLAN (clinical lattice) point system to maintain position. 3. Must complete UCN/SNM criteria requirements within nine (9) months of promotion or hire, including completion of Enhancing your Communication HLC#6488, completion of formal preceptor training workshop and enrollment in LEAP course.
