Previously, we posted top interview questions for sales, marketing, IT, and admin candidates. We also asked our awesome recruiters what questions they would ask of all candidates, and here’s what they came up with (I particularly like the tornado one):
- Give an example of an occasion when you used logic to solve a problem.
- Give an example of a goal you reached and tell me how you achieved it.
- Describe a decision you made that was unpopular and how you handled implementing it.
- Have you gone above and beyond the call of duty? If so, how?
- What do you do when your schedule is interrupted? Give an example of how you handle it.
- Have you had to convince a team to work on a project they weren’t thrilled about? How did you do it?
- Have you handled a difficult situation with a co-worker? How?
- Tell me about how you worked effectively under pressure.
- What’s one really embarrassing thing you should’ve done that wasn’t done at work, what was it, what was the problem for the organisation, and how did you fix it?
- What would have made you stay at your last job?
- If I lose all my notes in a freak tornado, what’s the one thing you want me to remember about you?
- What is your “unique genius”? (aka what is your superpower at work?)
- Tell me about a large scale project you worked on, in any capacity. Take me through the scope and your work on it, and any challenges and successes.
- Follow-up to previous question: if you could time travel back to when that project started, what advice would you give your Then Self?
My personal favorite question (aside from the brilliant ones above) is, “What should I have asked you that I didn’t?” How about you? Any questions you ask atÂ every interview? We’d love to hear them!
