If you\u2019re lucky enough to have more than one good candidate apply for a job, but you only have one position to fill, don\u2019t burn your silver medal winners. Invite them to join your candidate pool and ask their permission to call them back if something else comes up.<br \/><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Build the emotional bank accounts you have in the marketplace, and make a good impression. Even if they find work elsewhere in the meantime, they may be able to recommend a friend or colleague who will be just as capable \u2014 and you\u2019ll have saved significant time and cost in rebuilding your pool.<br \/><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>You may think these things are no-brainers, but you\u2019d be surprised. Decision-makers can miss the mark.
