\u201cI\u2019m not going to do another year where I work straight through from January to December without taking any time off<\/em>\u201d.\u00a0That\u2019s what I\u2019d said at the beginning of 2015.<\/p>\n

Fast forward 12 months and there I was. Beyond exhausted. Absolutely shattered.<\/p>\n

2015 had been \u2018full on\u2019 and I\u2019d been operating at a crazy pace. There I was \u2026 halfway through December and I\u2019d done the exact opposite of what I\u2019d promised myself \u2026 again<\/em>.<\/p>\n

So I went home to Australia for a break.<\/p>\n

After a week I got back on the plane to San Francisco even though I knew I wasn\u2019t feeling 100% recharged.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re not ready to go back. You need another week. Maybe two. What\u2019s the rush?<\/em>\u201d\u00a0The voice inside my head was on to something.<\/p>\n

So I took another 10 days off. And guess what? The world kept on turning while I was offline!\u00a0The company didn\u2019t collapse into a heap. The office didn\u2019t burn down. The team didn\u2019t all run away to Puerto Vallarta!<\/p>\n

Even though it was halfway through January, I decided to make my 2016 New Years resolution.<\/p>\n

Yes – I only made one:\u00a0I would take a 4-day weekend every month. Device free. A 4-day full technological detox to re-charge every single month.<\/em><\/p>\n

After all a one-week break after working non-stop for 51 weeks is not enough to ensure you re-charge properly.<\/p>\n

Stop kidding yourself.\u00a0You’re not invincible. Nobody is. We all need to re-charge.\u00a0Whether we\u2019re listening to a voice inside our head or whether we choose to listen to our body, we just need to stop, listen and re-charge.<\/p>\n
