This position is located in Chanute, KS and is within the Bureau of Structures and Geotechnical Services. This Engineering Technician Associate position provides assistance and technical support in conducting geotechnical field investigations and the preparation of associated reports. Works with all equipment and power drilling equipment during field operations and assists in the drilling operations. Collects and records data and is responsible for the classification of material, the subsurface position of materials and its engineering properties as used for design and construction. Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: * Works with all equipment and power drilling equipment during field operations and assists in the drilling operations. Preferred Qualifications: * Experience in the use of CADD and computer applications. * Training in the use of complex drilling testing and sampling equipment including techniques in coring and sampling difficult soils and rock. * Two years of technical experience in appropriate specialty in engineering, engineering technology, or a physical science field. * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with public and private officials, the public, co-workers, and subordinates Post-Offer/Pre-employment Requirements: * A CDL must be obtained within 60 days of hire and maintained.
