Provides patient education, assists provider with informed consent, prepares and reviews surgical charts. 5. Assists provider with laser and surgical procedures within the office, including those that require aseptic and sterile technique. 6. Performs as first assistant in operating room. 7. Responsible for cleaning and sterilization of office instruments, performing basic maintenance, quality control, cleaning, disinfection and maintaining inventory of ophthalmic exam room and ancillary equipment according to organization and departmental protocols. 8. Responsible for documentation, tracking and reporting surgical co‐management; completion and processing of forms (DMV, disability, legal blindness, insurance, low vision, etc.); review and monitors provider's schedule for efficiency and errors; triages messages and phone calls and responds to patients as directed by provider. Analyze and assess reports and records to identify and mitigate potential fraud risks by decisioning items for payment or return in accordance with regulatory requirements. Create cases and conduct investigations that result from mitigation efforts. Validate and balance data from core systems to mitigation software. Receive and assist with a high volume of incoming correspondence via email, mail, fax, and phone. Provide coverage for phone queues to ensure timely case/incident resolutions. Provide recommendations for process improvements, enhanced fraud detection and prevention measures and streamlined processes. Create process flows of department processes for efficient project management. Ensure strict adherence to and ongoing familiarity with federal, state, and local laws and regulations including but not limited to Reg E, Reg J, and various BSA Regulations. Adhere to and maintain ongoing familiarity with credit union processes and procedures. Understand, interpret and maintain regulatory compliance when writing or updating department procedures. Escalate all areas of concern to the department manager(s) for review and resolution. Provide departmental back-up coverage as needed. Respond effectively to changing ideas, responsibilities, expectations, trends, strategies, and other processes.
