Education

Preferred - Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) Certification obtained through IAHCSMM, Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER), Certification obtained through CBSPD (within 2 years of hire or transfer).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s)
Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications. Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process. Excellent organizational skills. Excellent time management skills. Ability to travel throughout and between facilities and work a flexible work schedule.
Job Duties
Assists physicians during procedures. Ensures cleanliness and/disinfection of endoscopes while maintaining quality control measures. Maintains all equipment. Maintains technical and professional knowledge. Provides effective care and adapts to change in a positive constructive manner. Performs other related duties as required.

Maintains professional accountability and technical support for provision of patient care for the endoscopy patient s experience. As directed, may be preparing the endoscopy field, obtain needed equipment uphold patient safety standards and assist the physician and registered nurse. Performs a variety of direct and indirect patient care duties and may assist with special procedures as noted on the career ladder program. These duties may range from limited to overly complex. All duties are performed in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum Qualifications (Level I): 0-1 year of experience /Outpatient Centers and Rural Locations/Non-24-hour opportunity location (primarily an ASC or rural locale)

  • Education: High-School Diploma or GED are required. You may be asked to provide proof of education.

  • Licensure: None.

  • Certifications: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

  • Experience: 1. The Endoscopy Technologist I can successfully participate in lower patient acuity cases AND/OR high-level disinfection.

    2. Completes one basic competency- Either Endoscopy Tech in Scope room competency OR Endoscopy Tech in Procedure Competency.

  • Other: Must understand English both written and spoken, must be able to perform job-related functions safely and successfully, with or without reasonable accommodation required by federal, state, or local law.

Work Schedule: Part time - 40 Biweekly Hours

Working under the supervision of the Endoscopy Nurse Manager and Endoscopy RN, the technician provides assistance or support in all activities of the Endoscopy Service. These duties include but are not limited to, assisting with procedures, cleaning and disinfecting equipment, room clean- up and turn around, ordering and stocking supplies, reporting the need for maintenance of equipment, and clerical duties as needed.

+ GI/Endoscopy tech experience or surgical scrub tech experience.
