The company serves original equipment manufacturers (OEM) in the light and heavy-duty industries, as well as suppliers of automotive, truck, and bus OEMs; utilities, renewable energy suppliers, solar and geothermal installers, and homeowners; and consumer product companies in the telephone and the hand-held scanner markets. The company was formerly known as EnerNow Inc. and changed its name to Ener1, Inc. in October 2002. The company was founded in 1985 and is headquartered in New York, New York.
