Qualified candidates will:

* Work within multidisciplinary teams to conduct facility energy and water audits and other energy management support activities for federal clients.

* Review building designs and specifications to ensure construction and renovation projects comply with federal and LEED energy efficiency and sustainable building requirements.
* Track and report of energy and sustainability metrics in accordance with Federal and agency-specific requirements.
* Help develop and maintain ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems.
* Provide support for future initiatives related to federal or agency directives on energy efficiency, renewable energy, fleet electrification, climate, and/or resiliency.

Candidates must have:

* BS or MS degree in mechanical, energy, or electrical engineering or a related field.
* 3 or more years of relevant experience, including experience conducting ASHRAE energy and water audits.
* Minimum 3.0 GPA.

Ideal candidates will have:

* Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) and/or Certified Energy Manager (CEM) (or related "In Training") designations.
* Familiarity with the Energy Act of 2020 and Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA) of 2007 energy and water assessment requirements.
* Knowledge and experience in topics related to energy efficiency, energy management, mechanical systems, HVAC, lighting, commissioning/recommissioning, renewable energy, metering, and sustainability.
* Experience or familiarity with ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems.
* Strong technical capabilities and written/verbal communication skills.
* Strong time management skills. Able to manage and prioritize concurrent projects and meet tight deadlines.
* Excellent attention to detail and critical thinking. Able to develop high-quality, client-ready deliverables.

* Performs building "walk-throughs" and identifies energy conservation measures (e.g., architectural, mechanical, electrical) in commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities.

* Determines and proscribes best methods for measurement and verification of system performance during the acquisition phase. Coordinates with Measurement & Verification (M&V) Engineers for compliance with Trane and IPMVP M&V standards.

* Prepares and reviews contract documents (e.g., scope, M&V protocols).
* Assists in the preparation of cost estimates for projects.
* Provides engineering direction and support to other team members.
* Provides conceptual or preliminary engineering design for projects including, but not limited to, basis of design, CAD drawings, and calculations.
* Reviews equipment submittals for incorporation into design.

Requirements and Abilities

The remainder of the Energy Engineer's time will be spent working with Senior Project Developers in assisting with energy simulation models utilizing fundamental HVAC principals, and understanding utility business operations, and consultative, solution selling.

**Essential Job Functions**

+ Provides technical analysis/review for energy projects; providing project risk assessment.

+ Perform building "walk-through" and identify energy conservation measures (architectural, mechanical, electrical, etc.) in commercial, institutional and industrial facilities.

+ Customizes software and spreadsheets to achieve desired technical results and presentations.

+ Determines and proscribes best methods for measurement and verification of system performance during the acquisition phase.

+ Conducts TRACE 700 / 3D+ and or eQuest models for additions/changes to the facility that affect existing guarantees or for optimizing existing control strategies.

+ Assists Senior Project Developers with design project layout (Baseline information) in energy/utility accounting software.

+ Analyzes data output for trends and/or any deviations that need further investigating.

+ Develops/streamlines existing reporting capabilities from a software standpoint and a usability perspective and investigate new technologies.

+ Responsible for reviewing contract documents and conducting job surveys.

+ Assists in the preparation of cost estimates for projects.

+ Provides engineering direction and support to other team members.

+ Provides conceptual or preliminary engineering design for projects including but not limited to basis of design, CAD drawings, and calculations.

+ Reviews equipment submittals for incorporation into design.

+ Maintains customer satisfaction by investigating concerns, implementing corrective action, and communication with staff, as needed, and providing customer feedback.

+ Assist with opportunity technical qualification including Preliminary Audits, Benchmarking, Site Surveys, and Interviews

+ Manage Preliminary Audit and Entry Offer Activities

+ Execute lean business process and practices for multiple comprehensive solution opportunities at the same time.

+ This position is responsible for assisting in data acquisition and performing analysis to support Trane's engineering and sales efforts.

+ Collect, analyze benchmark and develop summary reports as necessary to illustrate the pertinent details of building and/or system performance.

+ Other duties as assigned.

**Requirements and Abilities**

+ Have the capability to discuss both technical concepts around HVACR and controls, as well as understand and converse at the business/strategic level

+ Ability to interact with outside customers, and bring value to the selling process

+ Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

+ Perform other duties as assigned, often requiring output with short notice.

+ Some travel with occasional overnight stays. (less than 20%)

**Education, Experience and Special Skills**

+ Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Energy or related Engineering degree)

+ Knowledge and experience with HVAC, control, electrical systems and proficiency with energy analysis tools such as TRACE and system analyzer preferred.

+ Working knowledge of cost and savings studies incorporating energy conversation measures (ECM).

+ Ability to read, analyze, and interpret plans, specifications, contract documents, control drawings, service bulletins, technical procedure manuals, equipment specifications, and governmental regulations.

+ Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

+ Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from top management, customers, and service personnel.

+ An active Professional Engineering (PE) License in California, Certified Energy Manager, Engineer In training or other technical accomplishments/certifications preferred

+ Must possess a valid driver's license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations including, but not limited to:

+ DUI in the previous 5 years

+ Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless / Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.
