Responsibilities
A typical day may include providing engineering support for our Nuclear Services Group, DOE and Commercial Projects. Most projects are multi-disciplined and require extensive interface with other engineers as well as our clients. Duties of this role include proposal preparation, developing design studies, preparing engineering calculations and reports, attending project meetings, performing walkdowns, and mentoring and training junior employees. Preparing, reviewing, and overseeing geotechnical site investigations is part of the duties of this role. Other duties of this role include performing reviews of engineering calculations and reports in the areas of deterministic and Probabilistic Seismic Hazard Analysis (PSHA), site amplification/response analysis, and spectrum compatible acceleration time history development.

Qualifications
Advanced Degree in Civil Engineering or Geophysics from an ABET accredited university with experience in applying geotechnical earthquake engineering and seismology principles
Minimum 10 years of geotechnical engineering experience
Must have nuclear experience
PE certification preferred
Experience in geotechnical earthquake engineering design and analysis, and ground motion characterization and seismic hazard implementation, preferably for nuclear power plants
Experience in software such as PLAXIS, FLAC3D, SASSI, RSPMATCH, and SHAKE preferred
Knowledge of codes, standards, regulations, guidelines of NRC, EPRI, NEI, ASCE and ASTM
Ability to gain and maintain unescorted access at power generation and nuclear power plants and DOE sites
Ability to provide technical guidance to support staff
Ability and willingness to apply established technical knowledge to less familiar applications
Flexibility to respond and adapt to client and project needs
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to be an individual contributor and work effectively in teams
Ability to travel between 10-20% of the time; duration of travel may vary depending on project and client needs, ranging from a few days to a few weeks

**Responsibilities**
+ Designing deep and shallow foundations and retaining structures
+ Performing slope stability and settlement analyses
+ Developing preliminary conceptual design work and developing design alternatives and associated costs, for future planning and funding of projects.
+ Preparing geotechnical contract drawings, technical specifications, preliminary and final construction cost estimates for the construction of transit guideway structures, terminal buildings, roadway bridges, marine structures, parking garages, and flood mitigation structures.

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide technical expertise for the planning, execution, and post-well analysis of horizontal wells on which Geosteering services are being utilized.

Work rotations consist of working 12-hour shifts on both days or nights.
Must be able to work fourteen days in a row prior to taking days off.
