Position Overview The Project Engineer will support daily engineering, coordination, and management activities for the seismic retrofit scope of work. Key Responsibilities Engineering & Technical Support Assist with interpretation of contract documents, specifications, drawings, and engineering reports. Contribute to value engineering initiatives and constructability reviews. Monitor installation quality, survey/layout, tolerances, and inspections for seismic retrofit components. Support resolution of field issues through collaboration with designers and specialty subcontractors. Safety & Compliance Uphold safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and project safety requirements. Participate in hazard analysis, risk mitigation planning, and safety audits. Ensure quality control procedures are followed for all seismic retrofit activities. Scheduling & Cost Management Support development and maintenance of project schedules (Primavera P6 preferred). Track quantities, cost trends, resource needs, and forecast impacts. Assist with change order preparation, cost backup, and documentation. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. 2-5+ years of experience in heavy civil, bridge, or structural construction projects. Strong understanding of structural systems, steel and concrete construction, and seismic retrofit principles. Proficiency with engineering and construction software (AutoCAD, Bluebeam, MS Office; P6 a plus). Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work in challenging field conditions, including heights, marine environments, and active jobsite constraints.
