Full-time Description We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Design Engineer II to join our engineering team in Roanoke, Virginia. This role is essential to support the Commercial, Manufacturing, and Field Service teams with innovative designs for fixed and mobile equipment used in the civil explosives industry. The successful candidate will follow designs through the entire lifecycle - working with the Commercial team on concept designs and specifications, Manufacturing on production and sustaining activities, and Field Service to provide comprehensive end-user support. This position is ideal for an engineer with 2-5 years of experience who is ready to contribute to complex equipment design projects. The Ottohahn Group is working with a premier worldwide manufacturer and specialty fabricator of nuclear components to find Mechanical Engineers and Project Engineers to join their growing team! The Engineer / Project Engineer works closely with the Director of Engineering to manage customer order requests for the design and fabrication of heat exchangers and/or related HVAC systems and components utilizing ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code requirements. Responsibilities: Creation of customer requirements, initial design drawings, calculations, and BOM's Coordinate customer drawing and specification approvals Monitor components through manufacturing & production process Coordination of required quality inspections Serve as the main point of contact for internal and external stakeholders Create Design Reports with minimal supervision for several product lines Perform thermal calculations for a variety of coil designs and configurations Perform design validation calculations according to ASME Code requirements Use judgement and initiative in developing solutions to problems, interpreting general policies, and determining work assignments Maintain up-to-date project and sales order tracking systems Coordinate resources to provide timely support to QA and the Shop Floor on demand Provide technical expertise, guidance and support to Sales and customers Manage welding/brazing activities including procedures, approvals and certifications Experience / Knowledge with: ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code for Section VIII, Section IX, Section I, Section III, Subsection NB, NC, ND, NF, and TEMA Manufacturing, machining, & fabrication processes Seismic and nozzle loading Strength of materials Solidworks & EPDM Shell & Tube heat exchanger design (specifically evaporators / condensers) Requirements: B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field 5+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience Positions are direct hire on-site in Lynchburg, VA Must be a U.S Citizen or Permanent resident

Branch is searching for a highly skilled, team-oriented Project Engineer to join our well-established, growing company. The Project Engineer oversees all engineering and technical aspects of the project, with a strong emphasis on organizing and planning, to assure the highest level of accuracy and quality. This position reports directly to the Project Manager and provides support in project safety, documentation, plans and specifications, construction means and methods, scheduling, budgeting, projections, and project closeout. This position will support multiple areas including Greensboro, Bassett Virginia, and Danville Virginia. Duties/Responsibilities * Measure, report and forecast accurate cost and revenue dollars and quantities * Fully review contract documents, drawings and specifications * Assist Pre-Construction Services/Project Manager(PM) in defining project budget and cost codes * Prepare Initial Budget Adjustments for PM review prior to start of work * Ensure the acquisition of permits, through appropriate channels, as required * Maintain and update RFI Log, Change Order Log, and Submittal Log * Maintain and update the Materials Book - C25s/Certs/Etc. * Support quality control/Ensures approved materials are being used * Draft and submit Change Orders per PM approval * Draft and submit RFIs per PM approval * First level approval of subcontractor invoices for PM final approval Duties/Responsibilities Cont. * Review and submit end of month billings * Develop and communicate an effective plan in cooperation with the superintendent * Monitor work to ensure means and methods are followed and effective * Maintain and update project schedule for PM review * Review and/or develop material tracking list * Promote Branch Safety Culture * Perform pre-punch list walk thru with PM and Superintendent * Enforce contract close-out timeline and reconciles with Subcontractors * Review cost data for accuracy and assists PM in generation of projection updates Qualifications Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field Preferred Qualifications: * Master's Degree in engineering/Construction and two years of experience in heavy civil NCDOT/large site construction Competencies Budgets/Cost Control Organizational Savvy Work Environment/Safety Establishing Relationships Working with Financial Information Travel Extensive travel within the Northern Carolina Region Supervisory Responsibility Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
