Key Responsibilities

Quality Engineer Intern - Cox's Creek

Introduction
The Quality Engineering Intern supports distillate production, maturation, and bottling functions through strategic projects to ensure the highest quality product is produced efficiently with a minimal environmental impact.
Summary/Objective The Quality Engineering Intern is an important part of the Quality Department. This position supports all Quality and R+D initiatives across all Four Roses production areas. This position shall assist in process optimization, experimentation, and routine quality operations. This position conducts job duties in a manner that demonstrates a strong food safety culture which ensures the safety and quality of our products.
Essential Functions
Time Allocations
Major Responsibilities 70%
Quality Assurance: Quality testing, Process optimization, and Data Analysis
Assist in the optimization of bourbon production processes, including distillation, fermentation, maturation, and bottling to enhance efficiency and product quality.
Conduct experiments and data analysis to improve process yields, preserve product integrity, and minimize environmental impact.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot operational issues and implement solutions.
Support research and development initiatives aimed at innovation in bourbon production techniques and product diversification.
Perform routine testing and analysis of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Follow all safety protocols and best practices outlined in FRD SOP's
Document experimental procedures, results, and findings accurately for future reference and continuous improvement.
Develop Summaries of experiment findings to share across Quality and Operations groups.
Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance technical skills and knowledge of bourbon production processes.
Minor Responsibilities 30%
Support laboratories clean up in Sensory and Bottling Labs.
Sample preparation.
Participate in periodic panel evaluations at both sites.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience
Must be at least 21 years of age
Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in chemical engineering or a closely related STEM field (Chemistry, Biology, or Food Science).
Strong academic background with coursework in analytical chemistry, microbiology, and process engineering desired.
Familiarity with process engineering principles, preferably in the context of food or beverage manufacturing.
Proficiency in data analysis
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and compliance with safety regulations.
Passion for the bourbon industry and a desire to contribute to its growth and innovation.
Preferred Education and Experience
Experience in the spirits industry.
Experience in beverage operations.
Job Related Information
Supervisory Responsibility
Quality Engineering Intern has no supervisory responsibilities. Coordinates with Quality and Operations departments.
Work Environment
This job operates 75% in a warehouse/manufacturing environment and 25% in an office environment. This role routinely uses standard quality control equipment such as Density meter, balance, turbidity meter, colorimeter, HPLC, and GC-MS.
Travel
Travel will be required between Kentucky locations.
