Our client, an American electric vehicle manufacturer and automotive technology company, is looking for someone to join their team as a Sustaining Reliability Engineering Technician. This role is onsite in Normal, IL.
*This is a 6-month W2 contract*
In this role, you'll work with the Sustaining Reliability team to build, maintain, and operate laboratories for testing automotive battery packs, electrified powertrain systems, electric vehicle systems and component reliability.
What You Will Be Doing
Work collaboratively with test engineers to install, configure, and maintain test properties across a variety of complex powertrain test equipment
Execute tests effectively that results in minimal test equipment downtime
Troubleshoot test failures and report findings to test engineers
Proactively complete highest priority tasks while tests are ongoing
Fabricate test fixtures and instrumentation using a variety of materials.
Disassemble/reassemble production and prototype hardware
Provide guidance to engineers
Create electronic standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Train other team members to perform procedures in standardized format
Perform routine maintenance on test equipment
Required Skills & Experience
Must pass MVR
Knowledge of equipment for laboratory testing (associate's degree in a technology field or relevant experience or 2+ years tech experience)

About The Position
The Engineering Support Specialist is responsible for completing and supporting a variety of tasks within design and maintenance engineering. The position is intended to provide non-design functions and support activities within a full-service engineering organization. These department functions include but are not limited to safety, staffing, recruiting/on-boarding, training/development, performance monitoring, research/technical writing, and process improvement.

Qualifications

Your Impact:
The OSP Field Engineer provides training and supportive engineering services through highly detailed collection of telecommunications information from the job site. This position requires a working level of knowledge in all technical aspects of fiber networks. The successful candidate is responsible for in person validation of the existing field design and layout of the telecommunications network to include aerial, buried and underground fiber network design and layout, underground conduit, handhole, building entrance, and riser facilities. Provide assessment of new technologies, equipment, and systems for mechanical & plumbing building elements and associated equipment in order to evaluate applicability and value to campus projects.
Upon request, provide technical review & opinion on variance approval request forms submitted on projects.

CONSTRUCTION & WARRANTY SUPPORT
Provide review of HVAC construction submittals and testing verification on in-house designed projects and other projects as requested.

Provide technical support and on-site inspections as requested for the Commissioning & Inspection Group.
Assist Lead Inspector and occupant with technical issues in-house designed projects during the warranty or post construction phase.

Provide technical engineering consultation to other Facilities & Services units and campus units.

Product Engineer/Production Test Engineer

Job Responsibilities
Understand the hardware and software vision and roadmap for Internet of Things products
Own post release product quality by solving top engineering issues together with developers
Help hardware and software testing to improve quality before official release
Work closely with Technical Support team to classify and prioritize customer issues
Take tech support escalation as needed
Proactively define/build product metrics to identify issues
Build tools/processes which can easily propagate for new Smartz products
Schedule product release plan for App, Cloud, and firmware for Smartz

Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer - First ResponderJob Description The Manufacturing Engineer - First Responder will support the Lower Powertrain Group, which oversees manufacturing engineering responsibilities for axle assemblies, final drives, brakes, and related components for large mining trucks, off-highway trucks, wheel tractor scrapers, and motor graders. This role is critical for ensuring smooth production operations, driving continuous improvement, and supporting safety and quality initiatives.
Responsibilities
* Serve as the primary point of contact on the production floor during first shift with occasional flexibility to meet second or third shift needs.
* Participate in daily production start-up meetings to understand goals, challenges, and safety/quality messages.
* Respond promptly to issues raised by production teams, investigate root causes, and develop actionable solutions.
* Conduct audits of standard work procedures to ensure compliance and identify improvement opportunities.
* Collaborate with operators and team members to refine processes for safety, quality, and efficiency.
* Update standard work documentation and implement changes in manufacturing systems.
* Work with tool design teams to procure or design new tools as needed.
* Issue purchase orders for replacement or new equipment to improve processes.
* Evaluate and improve area layouts, material presentation, and overall organization to enhance efficiency and safety.
* Support implementation of engineering changes, including tooling updates and standard work modifications.
Essential Skills
* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
* Experience in manufacturing engineering and assembly processes.
* Familiarity with process improvement, lean manufacturing, and process engineering.
* Proficiency in automation and continuous improvement practices.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
* Experience with CAP (client-specific systems), Teamcenter, and AutoCAD.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
* Prior engineering internship experience.
Work Environment
Work at a manufacturing site in North America, operating since 1955, covering approximately 3,000,000 sq. ft. with around 3,100 employees. The environment focuses on lower powertrain assembly, supporting axle assemblies, final drives, brakes, and related components for large mining trucks and other heavy machinery. This is a full-time, 5 days per week onsite role with a primary schedule on first shift, but expect occasional overlap with second or third shifts. The work setting is dynamic and hands-on, emphasizing safety, precision, and collaboration.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.
