    Engineering Tech I The purpose of this position is to design and prepare timely, safe and cost-effective natural gas infrastructure improvements including system replacements, relocations due to state, municipal, and private entity construction conflicts, system reinforcements, and system expansions for Virginia Natural Gas. Designs include applicable CAD drawings, permits, and cost estimates for system improvements which may include bridge attachments, railroad crossings and directional bore operations. The incumbent also coordinates customers & requirements with the various departments and other prevailing authorities. Position will reside at the Virginia Natural Gas corporate headquarters in Virginia Beach, VA. Functional Expertise: + Provide quality control of geospatial data and mapping products + Researches facility records in GIS and project as-builts + Draft city, state and railroad right-of-way permits and traffic control plans as required. Essential Functions Monitor under construction intersections and propose signal timing improvement within that corridor as appropriate. Set and tune under construction signal cabinet, communication, and detection devices. Collect and Analyze traffic data. Traffic control devices design. Perform field review of work and timing plans, includes driving vehicle to remote sites to meet with maintenance personnel who will facilitate equipment access. Document site conditions and validate work & timing plans based on field review. Other necessary duties to meet work plan goals. Qualifications: Education: B.S. in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field. Experience/Skill Sets: Knowledge of traffic signal timing and device, control device design and traffic engineering applications. Demonstrated experience in traffic engineering. Traffic signal optimization and simulation software, including but not limited to Synchro, VISSIM and other traffic analysis software. Experience in analyzing traffic data, data mining and statistical analysis, Coding with Python is a plus. Knowledge of Operations principles such as signal timing, data collection, pavement markings, markers and messages, traffic signs and guardrail. Ability to work independently. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Skill in the use of computers and software applications.
