Job Duties:
- Serve as the technical liaison between federal government client design branch, construction branch, and contractors.

- Apply engineering principles and relevant codes across planning, investigation, design review, construction administration, , and assessment of engineering procedures, structures, systems, and tools
- Monitors progress and prepares technical reports and/or project status reports.
- Provide engineering judgment for field modifications, non-conformance issues, value engineering proposals, and constructability reviews.
- Complies with guidelines and regulations including permitting, safety protocols, environmental requirements, etc. and delivers technical files and other technical documentation as required.
- Assist in the development of cost estimates and supporting analysis in coordination with government cost estimators and contracting officers.
- Participate in pre-construction meetings, progress reviews, and project closeout/punchlist activities.
- Conduct or assists in quality assurance reviews to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
- Develops, trains, mentors junior engineering staff while guiding technical direction and best practices.
- Develop and maintain client relationships through responsive communication and strong technical support. Serves as a liaison with clients.

Job Description:
Microchip has a full-time opportunity for an Engineering Technician at our facility in Tuscaloosa, Alabama starting after November 1st. This role offers the opportunity to operate in a highly technical & scientific environment employing a variety of manufacturing and testing techniques. Essential duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
Support Engineering Activities including: Design, Test, Check-out, Modification, Fabrication & Assembly of prototype electromechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, RF/Microwave devices and specialized test equipment.
Applications include Electronic Circuits, Microwave RF, and Logic Systems.
Work from Schematics, Diagrams, Written and Verbal Descriptions, Layouts or Defined plans to perform testing, Check-out and troubleshooting functions.
Perform Operation Test and Fault isolation on systems and equipment.
Assist in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions.
Assist in design, construction, test, and check-out of test equipment.
Use manufacturing, test, development, or diagnostic equipment, including, but not limited to, test programs, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators and specialized test apparatus.
Requirements/Qualifications:
Associate's degree in a related field and/or 2 - 3 years experience with a proven track record of excellence in electronics assembly and test.
Ability to read and understand schematics and drawings.
Experienced in soldering and cable assembly.
Demonstrated ability to multi-task and remain highly organized
Comfortable working with cross functional teams
Ability to learn quickly and adapt to fast paced environment.
Strong commitment to teamwork and process
Demonstrated proficiency in documentation generation, organization, and storage.
Desired Qualifications:
J-STD Certification (terminals and wires, through hole technology and surface mount technology)
Experience in High Precision timing, test, and measurement
Experience with Ultra High Vacuum systems
Demonstrated proficiency in space qualified construction and testing techniques.
