This hands-on program provides real-world experience across various engineering disciplines, including Estimating, Service, Preconstruction, Construction, and Design. Graduates/ Interns will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers, project managers, and estimators, gaining valuable skills and insights in the field of mechanical engineering. RESPONSIBLITIES/DUTIES BY DEPARTMENT: These responsibilities generally describe the nature of each position and may not be all inclusive: Estimating Assist in reviewing construction drawings and specifications to help develop basic material and labor take-offs for mechanical systems. Support the preparation of cost estimates by organizing vendor quotes, updating Excel worksheets, and learning estimating software tools. Participate in jobsite walkthroughs and internal estimate review meetings to understand field conditions, scope alignment, and the overall estimating process. Service Assist with entering and organizing incoming service requests while learning how calls are reviewed, documented, and prioritized within the service department. Assist in project estimating and gain insight into Horwitz's sales process, including equipment selection and procurement. Construction Join project managers on job site meetings and walkthroughs. Support project management on various projects by preparing O&M manuals, performing Revit modeling, and conducting load calculations. Provide additional support during vacation staffing to maintain project continuity. Design Perform BTU load calculations to assist in equipment sizing for specific projects. Use drafting software (e.g., Revit) to create permit and installation-level drawings. Conduct field visits with lead designers to document existing equipment and site details. Engage in team meetings and research to ensure code compliance and design accuracy. Perform other duties as assigned. Internship Description The Engineering Intern is responsible for working on various manufacturing engineering assignments under the guidance of experienced engineers. Observes and /or performs hands on work based on mentor's comfort level of intern's comprehension of safety, quality, and demonstrated good work ethics to perform tasks. Key Roles and Responsibilities The primary duties and responsibilities of the Engineering Intern consist of but are not limited to: Part Cost Estimation Provides assistance to departmental teams across the company, working closely with Engineers. Analyzes data and prepares reports. Observes and may participate in customer and vendor interaction. Observes/analyzes and makes recommendations regarding proposed designs to assure that products can be produced in conformance with specifications and customer requirements. Part Manufacturing Process Development Assist in the collaboration with engineering to modify processes by which products/deliverables are manufactured or assembled. Assist with assembly, inspection, blasting, finishing, and machining operations (which may include production work). Assists Engineering team with part modeling and running 3D printer. Assists with the creation of working drawings while utilizing GD&T. Observes/participates in meetings on the development of machining processes. Continuous Improvement/Special Project Assistance Actively assists/participates in continuous improvement and special projects. Working toward a bachelor's degree in engineering or related Science and Technical degrees (entering junior or senior year preferred). In good academic standing (2.50+ GPA). Drafting & CAD (CREO or SolidWorks) modeling experience preferred. Experience with g-code programming a plus. Lean manufacturing experience preferred.
