Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
Ensure contractor compliance with approved Quality Control Plans, including participation in the three-phase inspection process.
Conduct site inspections, witness system tests, and support commissioning of critical systems (HVAC, electrical, fire/life safety, etc.).
Verify materials for compliance, condition, and approval for payment.
Manage field documentation including daily reports, quality records, and progress photos.
Support closeout activities, including review of as-builts, warranties, and O&M manuals.
Review and support safety planning documents (Accident Hazard Analyses, Accident Prevention Plans).
Observe and document critical lifts, ensuring compliance with NAVFAC P-307 crane safety requirements.
Perform periodic safety assessments, ensure postings are in place, and support mishap investigations.
Coordinate permits, utility outages, and site access in support of ongoing construction activities.
Review submittals, RFIs, baseline schedules, and provide technical input to the project team.
Assist with punch list development, acceptance inspections, and commissioning.
Provide support to the Contracting Officer and Construction Manager with invoice reviews, contract modifications, and related documentation.
Communicate field issues and risks proactively to the Government Construction Manager.
Essential Job Qualifications:
Clearance:
Active Secret Security Clearance required.
Experience:
5+ years as a Quality Control Manager on NAVFAC or USACE projects, OR 10+ years of trade foreman experience (concrete, mechanical, electrical, masonry, or carpentry) on commercial, industrial, or military projects (residential experience does not qualify).
Certification:
Certificate of completion for Construction Quality Management (CQM) for Contractors from NAVFAC/USACE, or ability to complete within 60 days of hire.
Valid OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety card, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
Ability to pass an open-book exam on the EM 385-1-1 Safety and Health Requirements Manual within 15 days of onboarding.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with NAVFAC/USACE clients and federal acquisition processes.
Knowledge of construction scheduling, safety enforcement, and quality control.
Proficiency with reporting/project systems (RMS/QCS, ie Facman, MS Project).
Travel:

**Duties & Responsibilities**
Work with the Boehringer Ingelheim GFE department to provide engineering and project management for a wide variety of capital projects including facility, equipment, site and utility construction, renovation projects and documentation management.
+ Perform weekly check of assigned systems and revise engineering documentation as required (specifications, drawings, etc)
+ Work with Engineers, Architects, Environmental Health and Safety, Designers and User Groups to support the development of project proposals, feasibility studies, design and detailed designs
+ Work with external contractors and vendors to prepare quotes and estimates for on-going project work and facility modifications
+ Assist with engineering design through the development of Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Process Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) per process requirements
+ Under supervision of lead engineer, perform data collection and basic statistical analysis on process design conditions in support of systems optimization and troubleshooting activity
+ Obtain experience developing and supporting pharmaceutical development projects, chemical process systems, site and facility utility systems, and GMP/GLP/GxP pharmaceutical regulations and practices
+ Provide support to develop new systems to ensure GxP compliance and plant operator safety
+ Obtain experience performing evaluations and troubleshooting existing building utilities and control systems
+ Work is reviewed for adequacy and accuracy by facilities and project engineers as required

+ Must be a current undergraduate, graduate or advanced degree student in good academic standing
+ Student must be enrolled at a college or university for the duration of the internship
+ Overall cumulative minimum GPA from last completed quarter/semester 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) preferred
+ Major or minor in related field of internship
+ Undergraduate students must have completed at least 12 credit hours at current college or university
+ Graduate and Advanced Degree students must have completed at least 9 credit hours at current college or university
Desired Experience, Skills and Abilities:
+ Basic understanding of Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, and/or Process Engineering fundamentals through coursework and projects
+ Sophomore level or higher
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills required
+ Ability to deal professionally with internal and external customers of various organizational levels
+ Ability to work effectively within a department team and members of same or higher organizational levels
+ Strong attention to detail and desire to learn topics outside of typical engineering disciplines
+ Demonstrated potential for technical proficiency, scientific creativity, and collaboration with others and independent thought.
+ Strong computer skills with beginner level proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
+ Basic competency with AutoCAD
+ Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
+ Hands-on experience with mechanical/electrical/plumbing/chemical, management systems
+ Knowledge of GxP regulations and chemical processing

Provide machine shop support for junior and senior level classes as well as student projects and clubs.
Maintain the Maker Space and help students and researchers from across the University with their fabrication projects
Provide maintenance and support for teaching labs, including maintaining laboratory inventory, managing chemical waste disposal, end-of-year clean up and organization of labs, and maintenance of lab equipment
Provide in-house machining to fabricate test specimens used for materials labs
Provide support for summer research programs, SAE Baja design and fabrication activities, ASCE and AISC Student Steel Bridge Competition fabrication and construction activities, and other projects as needed
Support student and faculty coursework and research as needed

Education Requirements:

Qualifications:
2-3 years of experience with machine shop tools and 3D printers
Familiarity with capital equipment maintenance, including testing machines, robotics equipment, and fabrication tools
Knowledge of chemical hygiene and waste disposal processes
Ability to manage inventory and purchase consumables such as chemicals, circuit components, PPE, and materials for concrete and structures labs
Skilled in setting up and organizing labs across various areas like concrete/structures, environmental, and geotechnical labs
Experience in maintaining and repairing various lab and workshop equipment
Strong organizational skills for managing lab materials, storage, and end-of-year cleanups
Strong communication skills for collaborating with faculty, staff, and students.
