Our client's High Performance Facilities (HPF) team is seeking an experienced Mechanical Facilities Engineer to provide HVAC and Plumbing design for a wide range of national defense projects in their Albuquerque, NM office. From multi-building campuses to secure facilities across the globe, the HPF team designs and delivers sustainable solutions to meet Government needs for resiliency, readiness, and reliability. WHAT YOU'LL DO
The Mechanical Facilities Engineer III will design HVAC and Plumbing/Piping systems for an exciting range of mission critical to mission support projects.
Project work will encompass:
Plan, conduct, and coordinate detailed phases of HVAC and Plumbing design work with calculations, process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, layout of mechanical equipment and associated duct and piping systems, and sequences of operations.
Develop mechanical construction and equipment specifications, test and inspection plans, and system design descriptions.
Evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for projects with less complex features, but also collaborate and use judgment to determine adaptations in methods for non-routine aspects of assignments and more complex projects.
Perform engineering quality assurance checks of project designs.
Support new project proposals with mechanical discipline scopes, budget estimates, and schedules.
Interface with and present designs to Federal, State, and Local government client contacts.
The Mechanical Facilities Engineer III will be a key member of a multi-disciplinary team of architectural and engineering staff producing project design packages of drawings, specifications, and calculations. The position includes great leadership opportunity with task assignment and work coordination with engineers, designers, and administrative staff. Periodic travel to other offices or project site locations, including international travel, may be required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Degree Requirements: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET Accredited Program is required. Engineering Technology degree will not be considered.
Minimum eight (8) years of experience - MUST HAVE
PE License required.
Ability to obtain a Department of Defense security clearance.
Experience in HVAC and plumbing/piping systems design and associatedengineering calculations (e.g. Air-handling systems, laboratory fume hood exhaust air systems, duct systems, heating and chilled water hydronic piping systems, natural gas piping systems, domestic water and waste water piping systems, steam and condensate piping systems, compressed air systems, and mechanical system controls).
Experience sizing and selecting HVAC and plumbing/piping equipment (e.g. air-handling units, fans/blowers, pumps, cooling towers, chillers, boilers, coils, HEPA filtration systems, dampers, valves, and controls).
Proficient in editing and writing mechanical construction and equipment specifications.
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Experience using HVAC computer load and design programs such as Trane Trace software; knowledge of Revit building information modeling software; and familiarity with AutoCAD.
Working knowledge of ASHRAE, SMACNA, and NFPA standards.
Working knowledge of IMC, IPC, and IBC codes.
The client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship.

We are seeking a computer engineer or computer scientist to participate in the development of embedded software and test software for advanced RF systems used in current and future national security applications. The selected candidate will demonstrate the ability to work in a dynamic team environment, sharing resources as well as programmatic responsibilities across the group.
This position's primary focus will be the development of embedded software for specialized RF communication systems. It is crucial to have an interest in mixed-signal (RF, analog, digital) electrical designs, which enable the control, optimization, and troubleshooting of these special communication systems.

About Our Team
The High Reliability Special Communications Department (5372) develops terrestrial, airborne, and space-based special communications systems for use in surveillance, reconnaissance, and high-value target and material controls. Our customers include a variety of government organizations conducting special operations missions. Staff members possess a diverse skill set, including microwave circuit design, antenna design, signal analysis, digital signal processing, embedded software, and digital FPGA designs. Applications include long and short-range communications and transponder systems, typically utilizing ultra-low power signaling techniques. Our design challenges include highly miniaturized electronics, low-power maximally efficient transceivers, signal extraction in very low signal-to-noise environments, and signal analysis of RF and communication systems.

**Responsibilities**
The successful candidate will be responsible to collect geotechnical instrumentation and field data in the WIPP underground, process that same data using computer and database systems, fabricate and install instrumentation, and assist engineers and technical professionals in data collection and processing. The candidate will support underground openings inspections, identification of potential ground condition hazards and mitigation of these hazards. Candidates must be able to walk on even and uneven surfaces; climb ladders, steps and inclines; qualify to work underground; accurately read dials and gauges; follow procedures; properly and accurately record readings; and be capable of operating computers and maintain computer databases. Candidate must be able to qualify to operate diesel and electrical lift equipment and able to lift up to 20 pounds and perform overhead work; such as drilling, survey laser alignments, alignment point installations, and instrument and cable installations. Physical Demands: On-site inspection work requires almost continuous physical activity. Most of the on-site inspection time is spent walking, standing, crouching, and climbing. In climbing up and down ladders and steep stairways, the PET is protected from falls only by firmly grasping on ladder rungs and hand railings. The PET may be required to hike into unusually rugged areas to inspect abandoned sites. PETs are subject to call 24 hours a day and may be required to work long nonstop tours-of-duty, occasionally in excess of thirty (30) hours. Some work is sedentary, although much of the job requires overnight field trips which involve physical activity on irregular terrains and work at physically demanding job sites.
Working Conditions: This position requires working primarily in field locations where it is necessary to wear appropriate safety equipment. Work environment involves exposure to extreme weather conditions, hostile flora and fauna, hazardous explosive fumes, poisonous gasses, toxic chemicals, high frequency noises, high-pressure and high temperature equipment, detonating devices, and moving machinery. Work involves climbing up and down ladders and steep stairways. A large part of the time is spent driving to work sites that are located in isolated areas. This work environment requires the use of hard hats, hard-toe boots, safety glasses, ear protection equipment, poisonous gas detection equipment, and cold weather gear and/or a respirator may also be required. The PET must walk under and around heavy derrick and hoisting equipment and piping and around other potentially hazardous operating equipment.

Position Responsibilities:
Assists engineers and senior technicians with efforts such as optical alignment
Serve as a crew member for tests, being trained in optics and lasers, telescope operator, camera operator, or atmospheric operator
Participates in test design and performs routine procurement, fabrication and assembly of components, test fixtures and test systems
Maintains labs to Air Force standards for Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory (PMEL), HAZMAT, ESD, property, and equipment maintenance
Facilitates systems integration, fabrication and modification; supports system pre-test setup, integration, checkout, and post-test tear-down
Troubleshoots and recommends resolution of basic laboratory and test-related problems
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

part-time, on-call basis
at our White Sands Missile Range Base Camp in Orogrande, NM to support our unit rotations schedule. The frequency of the work is 9-10 times a year for about 1500 hours, many of which are overtime hours. Our Surge Technicians work 12 consecutive days during unit rotations and we support approximately 9-10 rotations a year at the Whites Sands Missile Range location.
As a surge technician, your duties include (but are not limited to):
Providing support of test events on military ranges which requires a knowledge of military protocol and standard operating procedures during FTX events.
Applying technical knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and computer skills in support of operations and routine maintenance on EW & Radar systems and their peripheral equipment.
Setting up EW & Radar systems at remote locations, operating the systems in support of test missions, and tearing down the systems once testing is completed.
Work includes cross-utilization into other positions that fall within their scope of work.
Working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment of military test events.
The Engineering Technician IV performs assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed, selects or adapts standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents, receives initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed, performs recurring work independently. Work is reviewed for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions.
Work Conditions:
Conditions will vary as most work will be accomplished outdoors.
Must be able to work outside on the range throughout the year where temperatures and weather conditions will vary.
Physical requirements include: 45% standing, 25% walking, 20% sitting, 5% reaching, 5% lifting, 10% crouching in tight spaces (inside unit vehicle), and you must be capable of lifting 50-100 pounds independently or with assistance from others.
This is a part-time on-call position and shift hours vary with mission requirements.
Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed when called in, sometimes on short notice, to support test missions.

Our Surge Technicians work 12 consecutive days during unit rotations and we support approximately 9-10 rotations a year at the Whites Sands Missile Range location.
As a surge technician, your duties include (but are not limited to):
Providing support of test events on military ranges which requires a knowledge of military protocol and standard operating procedures during FTX events.
Applying technical knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and computer skills in support of operations and routine maintenance on EW & Radar systems and their peripheral equipment.
Setting up EW & Radar systems at remote locations, operating the systems in support of test missions, and tearing down the systems once testing is completed.
Work includes cross-utilization into other positions that fall within their scope of work.
Working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment of military test events.
The Engineering Technician IV performs assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed, selects or adapts standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents, receives initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed, performs recurring work independently. Work is reviewed for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions.
Work Conditions:
Conditions will vary as most work will be accomplished outdoors.
Must be able to work outside on the range throughout the year where temperatures and weather conditions will vary.
Physical requirements include: 45% standing, 25% walking, 20% sitting, 5% reaching, 5% lifting, 10% crouching in tight spaces (inside unit vehicle), and you must be capable of lifting 50-100 pounds independently or with assistance from others.

Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed when called in, sometimes on short notice, to support test missions.
Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for work tasks assigned.
Due to real-world war-time environments, must be able to handle combat simulation and maneuvering exercises.
May be subjected to loud noises including explosive devices, live gun fire/ammunitions firing war-time simulation, and loud noise generated from inside military vehicles during missions, troop support, and while working on range.
Requirements
Education/Experience/Skills:
High School diploma or equivalent.
10+ years of electrical and mechanical system maintenance and repair experience.
5+ years of maintenance supervisor/maintenance lead/maintenance planning experience.
3+ years of RF maintenance and repair experience.
Must have radar operation experience.
Must have working knowledge of Network/Computer operations & maintenance.
Experience working at a government facility helpful, but not required.
Ability to obtain a Forklift Operator license.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite to include Excel, Word, Internet Explorer.
Ability to input data into various user interface applications, ability to save and transfer data via USB sticks, CDs, hard drives, or other storage devices, and knowledgeable with networking and component configuration set-up and troubleshooting.
Must have strong working knowledge and the ability to use hand tools and technician diagnostic equipment to include digital multi meters, power meters, power drills, wrenches, screw drivers, etc.
Work experience as a technician in any of the following fields is considered a plus: Mechanic, Electrician, Communication System Repairman, or Hydraulic/Pneumatic System Repairman.
Current Driver's License required; must be able to be insured through company's vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
U.S. Citizenship required and you must be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Security Secret Clearance
prior to start
date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.

Looking for an opportunity to work with a talented team and expand your experience in supporting Weapons Test and Evaluation (T&E) projects?
SSI needs to add an Engineer Technician III to support our current list of services provided to the U.S. Navy. These positions, located at the White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) in White Sands, New Mexico, will provide engineering, technical, logistics, and administrative support in the planning, maintenance, preparation, execution, launch operations and post-test phases to the W Department of the Navy Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division (NSWC PHD).
Primary Functions:
Assemble electrical and electronic systems and prototypes
Build, calibrate, and repair electrical instruments or testing equipment
Draw diagrams and write specifications to clarify design details of experimental electronics units
Build or modify prototypes from rough sketches or plans
Redline technical data package (manuals, procedures, drawings...) to reflect changes in design or implementation.
Assist with design work in areas of installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment such as complex launch systems to include stationary and mobile launchers.
Performs installation, maintenance, system upgrades, troubleshooting, replacement, and repairs of all facilities, infrastructure, vehicles, new/existing equipment, and tools.
Assists with troubleshooting electronic, electrical, & mechanical systems that do require considerable judgment and final diagnostic.
Education/Experience/Skills:
High School Diploma or equivalent with an additional 3-5 years of relevant experience.
Experience in: Installing, operating, testing, and evaluating various weapon systems, equipment, and components
Ability to climb and work at elevated heights of up to eighty feet.
Familarity with AutoCAD and Solid Works.
Driver's License
Knowledge of WSMR operations
Able to deploy to both CONUS and OCONUS
The following qualifications are desired:
Familiarity with the implementation of Navy Fire Control Systems and Navy Vertical Launching Systems.
Skill in launching systems, ordnance operations, and knowledge in installing and maintaining ship and land-based systems used in a test and evaluation environment.
