Responsibilities:
Assist and support the Topsides Engineering Project Manager (EPM) in managing engineering work, including engineering deliverables, man-hour and schedule control, mainly in multi-disciplinary topsides design-related activities, ensuring that work is performed in accordance with company quality systems and safety requirements.
Understand the contract and scope of work for topsides with subcontractors.
Prepare key project documentation as per project specification requirements.
Manage project topsides-related drawings and control technical documentation across disciplines.
Prepare schedules, pre-planning, and resource forecasting for engineering and other technical activities relating to the project topsides design, ensuring that all activities remain within the project budget.
Assist the Topsides EPM in organizing regular inter-discipline review meetings and interface checks.
Participate in project meetings, report on project status, and address basic technical queries and issues, including reviewing the performance of vendors/subcontractors.
Liaise with customers, topsides design subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and cross-functional teams to coordinate project plans and resolve technical issues to meet the project schedule.
Assist the Topsides EPM in ensuring Design Reviews are conducted with appropriate attendees, and manage the action register to monitor the closure of identified action items.
Support the Topsides EPM in identifying dependencies and obtaining alignment with project stakeholders to ensure that safety and quality are not sacrificed in the effort to meet the project schedule.
Collate project documentation and databases from the project for submission and retention as required, compiling records from current and past projects as lessons learned.
Review and comment on the activities and deliverables list from each discipline, mainly focusing on topsides design-related activities and deliverables.
Lead and coordinate between the Hull's Team, topside lead designers from every discipline, external design houses (when applicable), and the client (when applicable) to define the boundaries for each module and between topside and hull.
Coordinate between disciplines to utilize the shared license based on work priorities.
Monitor and control topsides design man-hours based on the available budget allocated by the commercial team or as defined by the discipline Lead Designer.
Record and follow up on all topsides design pending issues/problems highlighted by Lead Designers from each discipline, and report to the Topsides Engineering Manager.
Expedite the information required by each discipline prior to starting and completing topsides design works.
Monitor 3D model clashing issues with other disciplines.
Prepare weekly reports on overall topsides design progress, areas of concern, pending items, clashes register, interface register, downtime register, available resources against planned resources, man-hour usage against planned man-hours, and action plans. Submit reports to the Topsides Engineering Manager/Engineering Project Manager & GM.
Lead topsides design review activities, either internally with other disciplines or externally with other parties (including the client).
Initiate, organize, participate in, record, and file minutes of meetings with external parties (including the client) for topsides design-related activities.
Prepare, update, and monitor the topsides design Punch List and Hold List on a weekly basis, especially related to external parties (including the client).
Support the Project Planner in the preparation of monthly or weekly reports to the client related to topsides design progress and status.
Support the Topsides Engineering Manager/Engineering Project Manager and the commercial team for variation orders (VOs) related to topsides design.
Ensure all topsides design activities meet work scope and comply with the Project Quality Plan.
Liaise with the Construction and Commissioning Team to ensure topsides design activities are aligned with Area or System Completion Priorities.
Understand and monitor all interfaces with Class Society (if topside is classed), other regulatory bodies, and clients to ensure requirements are properly addressed and relevant documents are reviewed in a timely manner.
Assist the Topsides EPM in preparing project close-out, including as-built documentation and engineering close-out reports.
Track and coordinate changes with Discipline Leads, ensuring team members follow the Management of Change (MOC) process and that recorded changes are followed through.
Proactively identify and monitor areas likely to change to minimize the “surprise” element, added costs, and delays to the project.
Coordinate interfaces with subcontractors and third-party consultants to ensure all changes are captured through the MOC process.
Requirements:
Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
Minimum 10 years of working experience in offshore oil and gas projects, specifically in managing topsides design work.
Ability to liaise with internal and external parties effectively.
Ability to comprehend strategies, work methods, processes, and systems in overall project execution and engineering execution of topsides design.
