Job Description Data Centric Group (DCG) in Solidigm is responsible for the design, development, and manufacturing of SSDs for enterprise applications. As a mechanical engineer within DCG, you will be part of a hardware design team that defines, designs, validates and manufactures Solid-State Drives (SSD) for data center applications. You will collaborate with the PCB design team to optimize component placement and SSD drive enclosures for mass production. You will be creatively applying your technical know-how engineering fundamentals, scientific knowledge, systems thinking, analytical thinking, prototyping, and testing knowledge against design constraints and boundary conditions to develop and productize cost optimized, mass producible SSD drives. You will also design and build proof-of-concept prototypes, perform Design-of-Experiments DOE, mechanically instrument prototypes for thermal and mechanical stress analysis, and help perform technical analysis and feasibility studies. To accomplish your deliverables, you will use CAD software packages like SolidWorks for model creation and will analyze your design for thermals using CFD tools like FloTherm and FEA tools like ANSYS. You will work on developing key relationships with internal design teams, with Solidigm outsourcing organization as well as suppliers to plan comprehensive product strategies based on future technologies. Qualifications -Minimum bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with 4+ years experience working in a design team supporting High Volume Manufacturing products. -Minimum three years of experience in following areas: Modeling using 3D CAD tools such as Solidworks, ProE, Creo, CATIA Designing for manufacturing processes such as die casting, metal stamping, extrusion, injection molding Drafting manufacturing drawings per ANSI Y14.5 and GD&T standards Verifying productions parts Conducting and verifying assembly tolerance analysis using EXCEL, JMP or equivalent tools Product Data Management (PDM) tools such as windchill -Experience using Thermal and Mechanical simulation tools e.g., FloTherm and ANSYS-Mechanical to optimize design and improve product development time. -Experience in generating experimental test plans for dimensional compliance, thermal and mechanical stress measurements. -Efficient in creating project management plans, schedules and strategy to meet requirements and perform risk assessments -Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deliverables' timeline with no compromise on quality and performance -Demonstrated good verbal (public speaking) and written (in the form of reports and presentations) communications skills -Motivated, self-directed and able to work effectively both independently and in a team Preferred Qualifications: 3 years of experience performing structural (static and dynamic) and thermal simulations using FEA and CFD tools like ANSYS Mechanical and FloTherm to analyze how designs react to real-world conditions 3 years of experience of applying of mechanics of materials, Heat Transfer, static and dynamic structural analysis to mechanical design Experience designing tools for HVM parts such as high pressure die casting, sheet metal, extrusion, molding etc. Additional Information This position is a hybrid role that can be filled in either Rancho Cordova, California; OR Vancouver Canada to candidates local to either office.
