This is a full-time (minimum 40hrs/wk) position in a 24x7 operations environment, subject to on-call, overtime, nights, alternating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Travel and Relocation is required for the summer, must be flexible with their location, as they could be moved depending on business needs. Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
Training will start with a two-day orientation in Fort Worth, Texas, offering a company overview and networking with leaders, followed by support on ongoing projects and practical field training at an assigned location.

Key Responsibilities:
This role does not involve design of railcars, locomotives, or other equipment.
Maintain the locomotives and freight cars that operate on BNSF's network.
Responsible for the safety of their teams.
Manage project and communication with project stakeholders.
Opportunity to shadow mechanical supervisors and craft employees; work on projects; and assist in supervising, monitoring, and inspecting the maintenance and repair of locomotives and freight cars.
Possess leadership, teamwork, clear communication, adaptability, and resilience to overcome obstacles and meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
Daily work is conducted in an indoor/outdoor safety sensitive environment where the working conditions can include diverse and extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet), walking and performing work on uneven surfaces, working around loud noises, fumes, climbing ladders, walking on uneven or elevated surfaces and heavy/moving machinery.

Basic Qualifications:
* Legally authorized to work in the United States and will be at least eighteen (18) years old upon hire.

* Have LESS THAN three (3) years of professional work experience/military service, EXCLUDING internships, part-time jobs, or positions held while pursuing my undergraduate and/or graduate degree.
* Have access to reliable transportation for the duration of the internship to and from assigned BNSF location.

* Prior internship experience or less than 3 years of work experience in Engineering, Business, Automotive, or a related field.

Kairos Power is seeking a highly motivated Reliability Engineering intern to execute hazard evaluations supporting the design, build and operation of near-term nuclear and non-nuclear hardware demonstration projects. The Reliability Engineering intern will work in close consultation with mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and controls (I&C), testing, manufacturing, operations, and licensing engineering staff to collect operating experience from the Kairos development program, implement reliability strategies, and to conduct hazard evaluations such as Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA). In this role, you will contribute to the technology development programs for the demonstration and commercialization of Kairos Power reactors.
Responsibilities
Support the development of strategies for achieving plant system and component reliability, using failure modes and effects analysis, what-if analysis, fault tree analysis, and other methods as appropriate.
Track implementation of reliability strategies for Kairos projects, including non-nuclear demonstrations, nuclear demonstrations, salt production, and fuel manufacturing.
Assists Kairos hardware technology development by capturing and disseminating operating experience.
Supports continuous improvement efforts that improve automation of analysis and documentation work products.
Other duties as assigned, which may include hands-on assignments with hardware fabrication, assembly, commissioning and operation.
Qualifications

Summary
This is an UNPAID internship through the DoD SkillBridge Program for transitioning active-duty US military personnel. DoD SkillBridge Internships are available to help transitioning active-duty military personnel gain real-world experience in the work force sometime during their final 180 days of active-duty service. The intern will actively train on meaningful projects and work closely with a mentor and with senior company leadership. HII Mission Technologies Internship programs are focused on placing transitioning military into internships that require KSAs, Education & Military Training similar to their current or previous military jobs; positions that could easily transition over to a full-time regular and permanent job with HII.
Objective
The SkillBridge intern will train as a Systems Test Engineer with HII Mission Technologies. The intern will apply military experience in operations, intelligence, electronics, IT, and systems integration to support test planning, execution, and reporting. Responsibilities
* Support the development of strategies for achieving plant system and component reliability, using failure modes and effects analysis, what-if analysis, fault tree analysis, and other methods as appropriate.
* Track implementation of reliability strategies for Kairos projects, including non-nuclear demonstrations, nuclear demonstrations, salt production, and fuel manufacturing.
* Assists Kairos hardware technology development by capturing and disseminating operating experience.
* Supports continuous improvement efforts that improve automation of analysis and documentation work products.
* Other duties as assigned, which may include hands-on assignments with hardware fabrication, assembly, commissioning and operation.
Qualifications
* Currently enrolled and pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nuclear Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent.

Summary
This is an UNPAID internship through the DoD SkillBridge Program for transitioning active-duty US military personnel. DoD SkillBridge Internships are available to help transitioning active-duty military personnel gain real-world experience in the work force sometime during their final 180 days of active-duty service. The intern will actively train on meaningful projects and work closely with a mentor and with senior company leadership. HII Mission Technologies Internship programs are focused on placing transitioning military into internships that require KSAs, Education & Military Training similar to their current or previous military jobs; positions that could easily transition over to a full-time regular and permanent job with HII.
Objective
The SkillBridge intern will train as a Systems Test Engineer with HII Mission Technologies. The intern will apply military experience in operations, intelligence, electronics, IT, and systems integration to support test planning, execution, and reporting. The intern will be assigned special projects as needed.
Desired End State (3-4 month target)
At the end of three to four months, you will:
Plan, execute, and report on system assessments in a rapid, agile environment.
Apply DoD testing and evaluation methods to emerging technologies.
Develop test plans that maximize data collection opportunities.
Collect and analyze data using both manual and electronic methods.
Provide recommendations to analysts on best practices for technology employment.
Deliver objective, verifiable conclusions that inform operational decisions.
Mission Technologies will benefit from the military background of the SkillBridge intern and considers the SkillBridge internship an overall positive experience.
