Where you will work This opportunity will be based onsite at one of our 3 mills, which includes Augusta, GA, Cypress Bend, AR or Lewiston, ID. The Augusta mill sits along the Savannah River, on the state border between Georgia and South Carolina and manufactures light, medium, and heavy weight coated paperboard. It is a well-invested SBS paperboard manufacturing facility with approximately 600 thousand tons of capacity. This facility boasts over 700 employees and has been in operation for almost 65 years. The Cypress Bend facility is located in the historic Mississippi River Delta and produces bleached paperboard and bleached Kraft pulp, used in the production of folding cartons, commercial print paperboard, carded packaging, and cupstock. This position will perform a variety of technical engineering work to support senior engineer staff in the preparing of engineering documents, detail and reports. Assures construction of both private and public projects are built according to approved plans, and that the construction complies with County regulations and other governing agencies, as required. The position should be familiar with interagency regulations and standards and their application for projects within the county. Plan review - Review commercial and subdivision development plans to determine compliance with County Codes and regulations. Provide support to Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) as a Chemical or Biochemical Engineering Intern - Limited Service Employee (LSE) on the Savannah River Site (SRS), a US Department of Energy (DOE) facility in Aiken, South Carolina. Responsibilities The Chemical or Biochemical Engineering interns will perform meaningful work in support of the SRMC organization. The selected Chemical or Biochemical Engineering interns will be assigned to 1 of 4 SRMC production facilities or the flowsheet group where the interns, as part an Engineering group will: - Work daily on technical topics with an engineering mentor - Monitor process parameters for chemical batch processes, review sample results, monitor batch operations and complete batch calculation to support operations. - Provide assistance to system engineers to assess system health, troubleshoot system process upsets and deviations. - Accompany production system engineers/operators/ shift technical engineer on system walk downs for maintenance activities and/or troubleshooting. - Participate in technical discussions with mechanical, electrical and chemical engineers.
