ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLILITIES

Develop control systems using ROS 2, Parker IQAN or other relevant software development kits.
Prepare and perform tests in simulated environments such as Gazebo.
Develop finite state machines and behavior trees.
Design electrical schematics and build prototype harnesses.
Prepare concepts using CREO or other CAD software.
Perform system and subsystem level testing
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Student perusing a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related Engineering field with relevant Autonomy or Robotics research experience

As an Intern Manufacturing Engineer, the candidate you will work alongside manufacturing and design engineers to ensure the manufacturability of new railcars. The scope includes but are not limited to:
Interface with direct manager and production managers during the development phase to validate all steps of the manufacturing process.
Work breakdown structures and bill of material process and logistics flows definition.
Identify needs of specific manufacturing equipment and tooling.
Create manufacturing plans in accordance with the site capacity requirements.
Create detailed Macro and Micro processes to assure efficient and effective manufacturing processes by interfacing with design documentation and breaking down into efficient subsets for industrial development instructions to the shop floor operators.
Work with ERP system (SAP) to structure manufacturing bills of material, process sheets and routings to support the most efficient manufacturing practices available.
Perform concurrent engineering design reviews and analysis to assure manufacturability of product.
Provide efficient support to Production to improve the processes and the productivity - through implementation of lean manufacturing principles and Hitachi Rail standard ways of working.
Required Skills/Knowledge:
Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or other appropriate Engineering science disciples, or a related field.
Technical Skills: Knowledge with 2D-3D CAD (AutoCad).
Knowledge with 2D-3D CAD (AutoCad).
Proficiency with MS Office applications.
Good knowledge of manufacturing method, tools and process.
Ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams and interface with all internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Junior or Senior standing or enrolled in a Master's program.
Must be available to work 40 hours per week onsite.
Education:
Current Engineering or Business student at a 4-year university with a graduation date between December, 2026 and December, 2027.

Job Responsibilities:
Assists Manufacturing, Process Engineering, and/or R&D Departments by performing various Engineering related tasks, such as collecting and compiling process data, measurement analysis and monitoring of core Ceramic Material processes in support of the development, manufacture, fabrication, and evaluation of ferrimagnetic, and dielectric based ceramic materials technical ceramic powders and products.

Job Requirements:
Currently enrolled in a BA/BS/MS program studying Ceramics Engineering, Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering, or RF/Electrical Engineering
Completed coursework or experience with Analytical /DOE Software such as JMP or Mini-Tab
