The Engineering Technician I is responsible for assembly, testing, and diagnosing scroll prototypes, including the test stands on which the units will be tested. Engineering Technician I Job Responsibilities:
Assemble, test, and diagnose scroll compressors, vacuum pumps, and expanders with direct oral or written instructions, using engineering drawings as provided by the project engineer
Assist Design Engineers with tasks such as developing and documenting assembly procedures
Provide guidance to production assemblers on assembly and test procedures
Wire compressors and vacuum pumps to controllers under supervision, using motor and controller drawings
Assist engineers in designing, building, and maintaining test stands based on project specifications
Assemble and install mechanical components, fixtures, and instrumentation on test stands
Perform electrical wiring and ensure proper connections for test equipment and data acquisition systems
Conduct pressure checks on equipment, compressors, and pumps as directed
Perform maintenance of test stands and assembly cells
Provide support during the transition of prototype compressors into production
Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical problems with test stands
Calibrate test equipment according to established procedures
Participate in safety meetings and adhere to all safety protocols
Work individually or as part of an assembly team
Perform quality checks of assemblies before shipment
Ensure work area is organized, clean, and safe
Regularly lift up to 50 lbs. of raw materials or machine parts, with or without accommodation

Engineering Technician I Qualifications:

About the Role:
As a Test Engineer Intern, you'll support the development and implementation of testing methodologies for advanced semiconductor products. You'll work alongside experienced engineers to help ensure product quality and reliability across various stages of development and manufacturing.

Assisting test engineers in schematic design, debugging test hardware
Software development to support product qualification, customer sampling, characterization and full production release

The Field Engineer Intern position will assist the project's field management team in document control, change management, record keeping, scheduling, quality control, safety, and stormwater management. The Biochemistry Group at NREL consists of talented scientists and technicians working on biological, chemical, catalytic, and materials research approaches for energy and economic solutions.
