Position Responsibilities: Assist in highway/roadway design using MicroStation/AutoCAD, following NYSDOT and AASHTO standards. Perform engineering calculations for alignments, grading, drainage, and other design elements. Support preparation of construction plans, technical details, and cost estimates. Contribute to traffic control plans, pavement markings, and signage layouts. Participate in design reviews and occasional field visits to observe existing conditions or assist with construction support. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; completion of sophomore year preferred. Familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or other 3D modeling/design software. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Interest in transportation/highway design and willingness to learn industry standards and practices. Previous internship experience or involvement in related student organizations is a plus. Estimated Compensation Range: $20.00-$22.50/hour* *Actual compensation may vary based on prior internship experience, current academic year, degree program, certifications, and geographical location.
