WHAT YOU'LL DO Viant is seeking a motivated Engineering Intern to join our Engineering organization for Summer 2026. This internship provides hands-on experience working on real systems that power Viant's AI-driven, CTV-focused programmatic advertising platform.
As an Engineering Intern, you will collaborate with experienced software engineers to design, build, test, and improve scalable systems across our DSP, data pipelines, and internal platforms. This role is ideal for students who are eager to learn, curious about large-scale systems, and excited to apply classroom knowledge to real-world problems.
THE DAY-TO-DAY
* Contribute to the development of software features and services used at Viant
* Assist with designing, implementing, testing, and documenting code under the guidance of senior engineers
* Participate in code reviews, team standups, sprint planning, and technical discussions
* Debug and troubleshoot issues across applications, services, or data workflows
* Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Data, and Platform teams to support business initiatives
* Learn and apply industry best practices related to software development, scalability, performance, and reliability
GREAT TO HAVE
* Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
* Strong understanding of core programming concepts and data structures
* Experience with at least one programming language such as Python, Java, Go, C++, or JavaScript
* Familiarity with basic software development tools such as Git, IDEs, and debugging tools
* Exposure to backend systems, distributed systems, or data engineering concepts
* Experience with SQL, APIs, cloud platforms (GCP or AWS), or containerization tools
* Interest in ad tech, data platforms, machine learning, or large-scale systems
* Ability to learn quickly, take feedback, and work effectively in a collaborative team environment
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
* Clear written and verbal communication skills

Program Details
Internship will be approximately 3-4 months (May/June -August 2026)
A minimum of 20 hours, but more hours can be available if appropriate.
The program includes a collaborative 2-week charrette in July working on a project in Berkely, Ca (travel and lodging will be covered, if needed, during the charrette)
You will be required to work in-person at one of our California offices. Please note, lodging is not covered for anytime outside of the charrette.
What You Will Experience

Analyze data and contribute to research.
