This position will report to the Engineering Manager - Water Systems.
Position Summary
Nebraska Public Power District is seeking an engineering student to work with and assist other experienced engineering staff in the Water/Renewable Energy Engineering Department at North Platte Office. Civil, Electrical or other relevant engineering disciplines are acceptable. The duration of the internship will May 2026 to August 2026, based on school calendar dates.
Education, Training and Experience
The student must be pursuing an engineering degree from an accredited college/university. At a minimum, the student must be finishing their sophomore year of college.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Assist with applying standard engineering practices and techniques utilizing prescribed methods in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks.
Performs a variety of specific tasks within each of the primary responsibilities: general understanding of the process involved, of the electric utility industry, and of economic/accounting principles; ability to manage personal performance; prepare design calculations; obtain field data; utilize drawings; develop design requirements; develop drawings and material lists; develop request for quotations; coordinate with procurement departments; and develop cost estimates.
Support Operations and Maintenance activities and associated skills which are required to provide technical support to the operation and maintenance of existing equipment or systems; troubleshooting, inspection, and testing performance.
