Job Description: Marigold's summer intern program is tailored to individuals who are currently enrolled in mining-related degrees as full-time students at an accredited, four-year college or university in North America. Internships typically run from mid-May to mid-August. By providing a structured program and access to the top minds and technology in mining today, your internship will equip you with the skills and experience to help prepare you for a successful career. Mine Engineering interns will become familiar with large scale open pit run-of-mine heap leach mining operations. Key Areas of Responsibilities & Duties: The key responsibilities of the Mine Engineering Intern include, but are not limited to the following: Assists in coordinating mining, mechanical, civil and other engineering projects to include developing a scope of work, generating cost estimate and preparing a project information package Assists in evaluating current systems and processes and implement optimizations to improve efficiencies Participates in project work including project development, budgeting, engineering, purchasing, construction, cost control, quality controls and implementation Develops engineering projects utilizing new technology to constantly upgrade and improve safety efficiencies, cost controls and protection of the environment Promotes and initiate positive employee relations designed to facilitate teamwork and job satisfaction through participation Participates with operating and maintenance departments in problem solving efforts to improve safety, efficiencies, cost controls, and protection of the environment Assists operating and maintenance departments in the implementation of new technology Participates in Long Range Planning, Short Range Planning, Ore Control, Surveying, Technical Support, or Geology as assigned Key Relationships: This role requires frequent interaction with department employees, supervision, management and on a regular basis Required Skills: Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Required Education and Experience: Full time college student at the Sophomore, Junior, Senior or graduate level majoring in Mining Engineering or closely related field SSR Mining Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
