This is a hands-on, build-and-test position focused on assembling, troubleshooting, and improving high-vacuum systems used in plasma research and manufacturing. You'll be

Key Responsibilities
• Assemble, test, and maintain high and ultra-high vacuum systems, chambers, and components.
• Work closely with PhD engineers to execute experiments, prototype builds, and system upgrades.
• Perform leak detection, troubleshooting, and repairs to ensure vacuum integrity and reliability.
• Wire and integrate vacuum instrumentation, sensors, and digital control systems.
• Maintain detailed build logs, test data, and equipment documentation.
• Support transitions from R&D; prototypes to production-ready systems.
Qualifications
• A.S. or B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, or related technical field.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with vacuum systems, instrumentation, or related technology.
• Familiarity with pumps (rotary, turbo, cryo), gauges, fittings, and helium leak detection.
• Comfortable using CAD software and data-logging or control interfaces.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail in precision assembly.
• U.S. Citizenship required (due to projects and facility requirements).

Caterpillar's Corporate Engineering Intern program seeks students currently enrolled in a four-year university to work alongside engineering professionals to learn and apply themselves to project work within their teams.

**What You Will Do**

+ **Electronic Components:** Will be responsible for designing and testing various electronic control modules as well as various electronic components. Will work with various internal Caterpillar clients to understand controller/component requirements, work with suppliers on design and validation of the components, as well as testing the components in various environments. Job Overview & Responsibilities
As a Composite Engineering Intern at United Launch Alliance you'll gain hands-on experience and will have the opportunity to:
Support the PMP team in the development, fabrication, and testing of non-metallic materials with a focus on composite materials and processes.
Conduct materials testing and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
Provide production support for composite structures, including payload fairings, interstage adapters, heatshields, and payload attach fittings.
Assist with issue resolution during layup, cure, machining, integration, and acceptance phases.

Gain exposure to systems engineering, quality assurance, and production operations while shadowing experienced engineers and contributing to larger projects.
