Collaborate with Automation Controls Engineers on PLC rack and HMI designs. Oversee quality control inspections of control panels and ensure compliance with customer specs. Collaborates with Manager System Operations and Telecommunications Supervisor to manage and direct Fiber Optic business plan, providing updates to Power & Light Director and City management or Council from time to time. Meets with City and utility management, consulting agencies, business associates, customers, regulating agencies, advisory boards, special interest groups, neighboring utility officials and other members of the community for the purpose of discussing electric service, power supply and broad utility/energy policies and issues. Maintains and upgrades professional knowledge and skills by attending seminars and training programs and reading trade and professional journals and publications. Maintains active membership and participation in technical and professional organizations. Maintains familiarity of latest NERC Standards in Operations, Planning and Cyber areas to ensure they are implemented in design and operation of the electric system. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: Graduation from an ABET accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, specializing in power system engineering required (BSEE); AND Fifteen (15) years' experience in electrical power systems engineering; OR Twelve (12) years' experience in electrical power engineering with a Master's Degree in Electrical Power Engineering. Key Responsibilities Project Execution Prepare complex engineering deliverables for multiple or mega projects Conduct research to develop equipment and material recommendations Manage data and perform complex engineering calculations Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and quality requirements across multiple disciplines Lead larger production teams, coordinate multi-discipline activities, and serve as the responsible charge for a project Client Interface Identify key client interests and drivers for moderately complex projects Communicate client concerns to project team members and develop solutions Provide support for business development or pursuit activities Manage project changes directly with the client under Project Manager supervision Technical Expertise Lead large multi-discipline teams to meet project deliverables Provide technical leadership for complex substation projects Drive solutions to achieve project goals Management Responsibilities Review lower-level engineering work or assignments Responsible for hiring, discipline, and pay administration of subordinates Preferred Qualifications Professional Engineer (PE) license highly preferred Experience managing Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC) or design services substation and switchyard projects for investor-owned utilities in the U.S. Five years of experience in design of substation facilities, with strong understanding of project lifecycle, layout design and optimization, relay protection & control, civil/structural design, and major substation equipment Strong communication skills and interest in engaging with clients to build relationships Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles, guides, and standards Working knowledge of procurement processes and contract administration Familiarity with proposal process and developing engineering estimates Minimum Qualifications Bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited program Minimum of 8 years related work experience Ability to meet pre-employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, MVR search, as required by law/regulation) Certifications Professional registration or licensure in home country, or active pursuit of such registration Additional registrations may be required depending on assignment
