The Valves, Actuators, and Ducts division of the Propulsion Engineering department is searching for a Mechanical Technician to support the Component Development Area (CDA). The CDA is a world-class small fabrication shop and testing laboratory supporting development and testing of space flight components and systems. The selected candidate must have practical experience and demonstrate knowledge in a wide range of technical and engineering methods that support tests at the CDA. Candidate will fabricate tubing, fixtures, pneumatic panels, hydraulic assemblies, and various mechanical systems; candidate will operate and maintain complex mechanical systems utilized in testing of space flight components.
Additional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Work directly with engineering personnel and/or senior technicians on the design, fabrication, installation, and operation of components and systems
Usage and safe operation of mills, tube flaring equipment, saws, shear presses, grinders, and pneumatics
Welding using various methodologies to assemble frames, test fixtures, and support assemblies for component testing
Utilize detailed test procedures for safe operation of hydraulic, pneumatic, cryogenic, and high-pressure gas systems
Interpret drawings, plans, and specifications for buildup and testing of flight type hardware and test components

Responsibilities:
Troubleshoot electronic assemblies down to the component level to support product reliability and repair, while diagnosing and resolving issues in both RF and digital systems to return failed units to full functionality. Log and interpret test data, collaborating with peers to identify trends and drive continuous improvement across the product lifecycle. Work closely with Technical Leads and Engineering to implement process enhancements, and communicate proactively with management and team members to align on goals and improve throughput. Set up, calibrate, and validate test systems to ensure accuracy and repeatability, and present findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Remain adaptable in a dynamic manufacturing environment, responding effectively to shifting priorities and production demands.
Required Qualifications:
Associate degree related to aerospace or electronics and at least 4 years of production and/or assembly experience
US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong understanding of electrical tools and equipment; crimpers, dies, multimeter, presses, connectors, contacts, wire gauges/types, soldering, etc.
Ability to assembly, test, rework, repair according to IPC Standards
Experience working in a design team environment with vendors, customers and peer engineers

Required Education, Knowledge and Skills:
Associate degree in a physical or biological science, military training, or 5+ years relevant field-technician experience.
Working knowledge of field and environmental surveys, data collection and entry, basic environmental regulations, hazardous material and solid-waste management, and damage surveys.
Ability to communicate effective both orally and in writing.
Experience in preparing correspondence, written reports, and briefing clients and management personnel.
Knowledge of local and national codes.
Knowledge of construction means and methods.
Ability to interpret Architectural/Engineering plans and specifications.
Familiarity with modern construction products (quality, uses, and applications).
Knowledge of commonly utilized construction management software.
OSHA 30-hour construction safety training preferred.
Ability to maintain a valid driver's license.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
This position requires both office and field work, exposing the employee to various weather conditions and construction site hazards. Physical demands include frequent sitting, standing, walking, and occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching. The ability to lift up to 25 pounds and wear personal protective equipment is essential. Frequent travel to the job site(s) is also required.

We are currently recruiting full time year-round engineering/technical co-ops to work at our Huntsville, AL location. We are accepting applications for graduate and undergraduate students. Our co-ops typically offer experience in Radar Systems, Aerospace Systems, Avionics, Modeling and Simulation, Antenna Design and Analysis, Software Development, and more.

Qualifications:
